Abstract

ID-based constant-round group key agreement protocols are efficient in both computation and communication, but previous protocols did not provide valid message authentication. An improvement based on attack analysis is proposed in this paper. The improved method takes full advantage of the data transmitted at various stages of the protocol. By guaranteeing the freshness of authentication messages, the authenticity of the generator of authentication messages, and the completeness of the authenticator, the improved protocol can resist various passive and active attacks. The forward secrecy of the improved protocol is proved under a Katz-Yung (KY) model. Compared with existing methods, the improved protocol is more effective and applicable.

An efficient dynamic group key agreement protocol

YE Cheng-qing

A new efficient dynamic group key agreement protocol was presented to reduce the communication cost in ID-based constant round authenticated group key agreement. All group members constructed a ring structure during the group key agreement.Utilizing the technology proposed in one round tripartite key agreement protocol, about half of group members did not need to broadcast their messages in the second round information exchange in this protocol. So the efficiency of this protocol was improved. Then the group key agreement protocol was extended to suit dynamic group membership. When the membership changed, the number of members participating in the message exchange was only dependent on the number of joining/leaving numbers instead of that of all members.Hence, the total communication cost in the protocol was reduced compared with other protocols.Analysis results show that it is a secure protocol and more efficient than other protocols.

Efficient ID-Based Two Round Authenticated Group Key Agreement Protocol

Hong Jun Tang, Liehuang Zhu, Zijian Zhang

Group key agreement protocol allows all the members to agree upon a common session key, which may be used for later secure communication among all the participants. Through incorporating ID-based authenticated two-party key agreement protocol proposed by McCullagh et al. and constant round group key agreement proposed by Burmester and Desmedt, we propose a new ID-based two round authenticated group key agreement protocol which is more efficient than previously proposed protocols in terms of both communication and computation cost.

1-round dynamic group key agreement

YE Cheng-qing

Among the conventional round group key agreement protocol, the minimal number of message exchange round is 2.The efficiency of the protocol is affected by the number of message exchange round.Using a secret shared technology that two parties share a common static secret without any interaction between them,an efficient one-round ID-based authenticated group key agreement scheme was proposed and extended to the dynamic group. The number of message exchanged during the key agreement in this one-round protocol is reduced to half of that in two-round protocols. So the efficiency of its communication is improved. The proposed scheme was proved to be secure and be forward and backward secure, and can be applied to the secure group communication where the perfect forward secure is not needed.

The security attributes of three provable secure ID-based authenticated key agreement protocols are analyzed, and an enhanced ID-based authenticated key agreement protocol is presented based on the previous work. The new scheme achieves most of the known security attributes, such as known-key secrecy,key-compromise impersonation resilience, unknown key-share resilience,no-key control and message independence, especially the PKG-forward secrecy and known session-specific temporary information secrecy attributes, meanwhile keeping with the nice efficiency.

Perfect Forward Secure ID-based Key Agreement Protocol in Group Communication

Pengshuai Qiao

Several identity-based key agreement protocols using bilinear pairing have been proposed in recent years and none of them has achieved all required security properties. In this paper, we firstly propose an ID-based one round authenticated group key agreement protocol with bilinear pairings, where all participants can generate the group session key in one round. Based on the intractability of elliptic curve discrete logarithm problem, every user’s private key can be proved to be secure. Also an extended version of one round authenticated group key agreement protocol is given, it provide perfect forward secrecy and avoid key escrow by the Key Generation Center.  Finally, a comprehensive security analysis and a comprehensive security analysis are provided. By comparing with other protocols, the proposed protocol requires lower computation cost.

Round-optimal ID-based dynamic authenticated group key agreement

Xu An Wang, Jianhua Yan, Dongqing Xie +2 more

A group key agreement protocol provides a set of users with a shared secret key to achieve cryptographic goal. When membership changes, group session key should be updated efficiently and securely. Hence, dynamic group key agreement protocols are of practical significance. Identity-based group key agreement protocols are preferred to certificate-based ones since identity-based protocols can simplify public key management procedure. Most of previous dynamic group key agreement protocols need at least two rounds to establish or refresh group session keys. In this paper, an identity-based dynamic authenticated group key agreement (DAGKA) protocol is presented. It is round-optimal, since: 1) in setup and join algorithms, only one round of communication is required; 2) in leave algorithm, there is no message exchange among group members. Joining members cannot compute previous session keys and leaving members cannot compute subsequent session keys. The protocol is provably secure. Its AKE-security is proved under decisional bilinear Diffie-Hellman (DBDH) assumption. In addition, the protocol resists key control attack and achieves forward security.
