Abstract

The "incoming" interaction picture found by Xu and Tsai [Phys. Rev. A 41, 53 (1990)], used to develop a convenient formulation of the closed-time-path approach to Green's function theory, is shown to be a particular case of a more general set of solutions.

It is clarified that the interaction picture introduced in CTPGF ought to be the incoming one and the perturbation expansion of CTPGF to be developed also in this sense.

In this Brief Report, we explicitly show the equivalence of the Feynman-Vernon influence-functional approach and the path-integral formulation of the Schwinger-Keldysh closed-time-path Green's function. The latter simplifies the practical calculations considerably with a systematic diagrammatic technique and is expected to have a broader application.
