Abstract

We propose a dissipative scheme to generate a maximally entangled state for two $\ensuremath{\Lambda}$-type atoms trapped in an optical cavity. Different from the unitary-dynamics-based scheme, our work shows that both atomic spontaneous emission and cavity decay are no longer detrimental, but necessary for entanglement generation. The scheme is independent of initial states and does not require precise time control. A final numerical simulation with two groups of experimental parameters indicates that the present scheme is feasible and the performance could be better than the unitary-dynamics-based scheme.

Preparation of three-dimensional entanglement for distant atoms in coupled cavities via atomic spontaneous emission and cavity decay

We propose a dissipative scheme to prepare a three-dimensional entangled state for two atoms trapped in separate coupled cavities. Our work shows that both atomic spontaneous emission and cavity decay, which are two typical obstacles in unitary-dynamics-based schemes, are no longer detrimental, but necessary for three-dimensional entangled state preparation without specifying initial state and controlling the evolution time precisely. Final numerical simulation with one group of experimental parameters indicates that the performance of our scheme could be better than the unitary-dynamics-based scheme.

Driving two atoms in an optical cavity into an entangled steady state using engineered decay

Florentin Reiter, Michael J Kastoryano, Anders S Sørensen

We propose various schemes for the dissipative preparation of a maximally entangled steady state of two atoms in an optical cavity. Harnessing the natural decay processes of cavity photon loss and spontaneous emission, we use an effective operator formalism to identify and engineer effective decay processes, which reach an entangled steady state of two atoms as the unique fixed point of the dissipative time evolution. We investigate various aspects that are crucial for the experimental implementation of our schemes in present-day and future cavity quantum electrodynamics systems and analytically derive the optimal parameters, the error scaling and the speed of convergence of our protocols. Our study shows promising performance of our schemes for existing cavity experiments and favorable scaling of fidelity and speed with respect to the cavity parameters.

Engineering steady-state entanglement via dissipation in coupled cavities

Zhao Jin, Shi‐Lei Su, Ai‐Dong Zhu +2 more

Abstract We present a scheme for the dissipative preparation of an entangled steady state between two atomic qubits separately trapped in the coupled cavities. The combination of coherent driving fields and dissipative processes will drive the system into a steady state. By choosing different frequency of classical laser field, the target steady state can be generated in different ways. In our scheme, the atomic spontaneous emission and the cavity decay can be used as a prerequisite. The numerical simulation shows that the maximally entangled state with high fidelity and purity can be produced regardless of the initial state. The fidelity is insensitive to the fluctuation of the system parameters.

Dissipative Preparation of Entanglement in Optical Cavities

Michael J. Kastoryano, Florentin Reiter, Anders Søndberg Sørensen

We propose a novel scheme for the preparation of a maximally entangled state of two atoms in an optical cavity. Starting from an arbitrary initial state, a singlet state is prepared as the unique fixed point of a dissipative quantum dynamical process. In our scheme, cavity decay is no longer undesirable, but plays an integral part in the dynamics. As a result, we get a qualitative improvement in the scaling of the fidelity with the cavity parameters. Our analysis indicates that dissipative state preparation is more than just a new conceptual approach, but can allow for significant improvement as compared to preparation protocols based on coherent unitary dynamics.

A Cavity-QED Scheme for Generating Long-Lived Maximally Entangled States

Shao-Hua Xiang, Shao Bin, Kehui Song +1 more

We propose a potentially practical scheme to generate two-atom maximally entangled states by the large-detuning interaction between two three-level Λ-type atoms and coherent optical fields. Conditioned on the results of detecting cavity field, four pairs of atomic maximally entangled states with unity fidelity and high successful probability can be prepared. We also investigate the influence of the cavity dissipation on the generated entangled states and discuss the experimental feasibility of our scheme.

Shortcuts to adiabatic passage for the generation of maximally entangle states in a distributed atom-cavity system

Mei Lu, Chun‐Ling Zhang, Bin Zhang +1 more

Abstract We propose an efficient scheme to generate maximally entangled states between two three-level atoms in multi-cavity systems via shortcuts to the adiabatic technique. Two atoms are trapped in spatially separated cavities which are linked through direct coupling and optical fiber coupling, respectively. Time-dependent lasers which are tactfully designed radiate the atoms to drive the evolution rapidly. A determinate analysis solution for this distributed maximally entangled state is achieved by controlling the detuning between the cavity mode and laser fields. Numerical simulations show that the shortcut scheme permits the decoherence which arises from the noisy environment and spontaneous emission to some extent. Meanwhile, the scheme tolerates the imprecision of the experimental parameters, such as evolution time, laser parameters and so on. Our research provided a fast, analytical and feasible technology in non-locality quantum entanglement preparation in quantum electronic dynamics.
