Effect of non-Markovianity on the dynamics of coherence, concurrence and Fisher information

Abstract

A master equation has been constructed for a global system-bath interaction both in the absence as well as presence of non-Markovian noise. The master equation has been exactly solved for a special class of two qubit X states (which contains Bell diagonal and Werner states). The $l_1$ norm of coherence has been calculated to observe the dynamics of quantum coherence in the presence of a global system-bath interaction. We show that the global part of the system-bath interaction compensates for the decoherence, resulting in the slow down of coherence decay. The concurrence and the Fisher information, explicitly calculated for a particular two qubit Werner state, indicate that the decay of these quantum features also slow down under a global system-bath interaction. We also show that the coherence is the most robust of all the three non-classical features under environmental interaction. Entanglement is shown to be the most costly of them all. For an appropriately defined limiting case, all the three quantities show freezing behaviour. This limiting condition is attainable when the separations between the energy levels of both the atomic qubits are small.

Non-Markovian qubit dynamics in nonequilibrium environments

Xiang-Ji Cai

We theoretically study the non-Markovian dynamics of qubit systems coupled to nonequilibrium environments with nonstationary and non-Markovian statistical properties. The reduced density matrix of the single qubit system satisfies a closed third-order differential equation with all the higher-order environmental correlations taken into account and the reduced density matrix of the two qubit system can be expressed as the Kraus representation in terms of the tensor products of the single qubit Kraus operators. We derive the relation between the entanglement and nonlocality of the two qubit system which are both closely associated with the decoherence function. We identify the threshold values of the decoherence function to ensure the existences of the concurrence and nonlocal quantum correlations for a given evolution time when the two qubit system is initially prepared in the composite Bell states and the extended Werner states, respectively. It is shown that the environmental nonstationary feature can suppress the decoherence and disentanglement dynamics and can reduce the coherence and entanglement revivals in non-Markovian dynamics regime. In addition, it is shown that the environmental non-Markovian feature can enhance the coherence revivals in the single decoherence dynamics and the entanglement revivals in the two qubit disentanglement dynamics, respectively. Furthermore, the environmental nonstationary and non-Markovian features can enhance the nonlocality of the two qubit system.

Decoherence and disentanglement scenarios in non-Markovian quantum Brownian motion

Christian Hörhammer, H. Büttner

We study the non-Markovian decoherence and disentanglement dynamics of dissipative quantum systems with special emphasis on non-Gaussian continuous variable systems. The dynamics are described by the Hu–Paz–Zhang master equation of quantum Brownian motion. The time evolution of the decoherence function of a single-mode superposition is compared to the concurrence of a two-mode entangled state. It is verified that moderate non-Markovian influences slow down the decay of interference fringes and quantum correlations, while strong non-Markovian effects resulting from an out-of-resonance bath can even accelerate the loss of coherence, compared to predictions of Markovian approximations. Qualitatively different scenarios including exponential, Gaussian or algebraic decay of the decoherence function are analyzed. It is shown that partial revivals of coherence can occur in case of non-Lindblad-type dynamics.

Disentanglement Dynamics in Nonequilibrium Environments

We theoretically study the non-Markovian disentanglement dynamics of a two-qubit system coupled to nonequilibrium environments with nonstationary and non-Markovian random telegraph noise statistical properties. The reduced density matrix of the two-qubit system can be expressed as the Kraus representation in terms of the tensor products of the single qubit Kraus operators. We derive the relation between the entanglement and nonlocality of the two-qubit system which are both closely associated with the decoherence function. We identify the threshold values of the decoherence function to ensure the existences of the concurrence and nonlocal quantum correlations for an arbitrary evolution time when the two-qubit system is initially prepared in the composite Bell states and the Werner states, respectively. It is shown that the environmental nonequilibrium feature can suppress the disentanglement dynamics and reduce the entanglement revivals in non-Markovian dynamics regime. In addition, the environmental nonequilibrium feature can enhance the nonlocality of the two-qubit system. Moreover, the entanglement sudden death and rebirth phenomena and the transition between quantum and classical nonlocalities closely depend on the parameters of the initial states and the environmental parameters in nonequilibrium environments.

Quantum master equations for entangled qubit environments

Shakib Daryanoosh, Ben Q. Baragiola, Thomas Guff +1 more

We study the Markovian dynamics of a collection of $n$ quantum systems coupled to an irreversible environmental channel consisting of a stream of entangled qubits. Within the framework of repeated quantum interactions, we derive the master equation for the joint-state dynamics of the $n$ quantum systems. We investigate the evolution of the joint state for two-qubit environments where the presence of antidiagonal coherences in the state of the bath qubits (in the local energy basis) is essential for preserving and generating entanglement between two remote quantum systems. However, maximally entangled bath qubits, such as Bell states, exhibit exceptional behavior, where the master equation does not have a unique steady state and can destroy entanglement between the systems. For the general case of $n$-qubit environments we show that antidiagonal coherences that arise from multibody entanglement in the bath qubits do not affect the composite system evolution in the weak-coupling regime.

Quantum non-Markovianity of a qubit in presence of state dependent bath

Mehboob Rashid, Muzaffar Qadir Lone, Prince Ahmad Ganai

Abstract In the field of quantum information theory, the intersection of the complex dynamics related to non-Markovianity and information is a crucial frontier. Non-Markovian effects, which take memory and temporal correlations into account, challenge conventional wisdom in the fields of quantum biology, metrology, cryptography, and communication. In this work, we analyze the non-Markovian dynamics of a dephasing model in presence of initial system-bath (SB) correlations. These SB correlations are generated via projective measurements on a predefined equilibrium state. Using the non-Markovian measures based on trace distance and quantum Fisher information, it is shown that these correlations have significant impact in the non-Markovian regime at high temperatures while it does not play any role in the Markovian case. Furthermore, it is shown that the oscillatory behaviour of the decoherence function does not always show non-Markovian behaviour.
