$Q$-operator and $T$-$Q$ relation for the open XYZ chain

Abstract

We propose that the Baxter's $Q$-operator for the XYZ quantum spin chain with open boundary conditions is given by the $j\\to \\infty$ limit of the corresponding transfer matrix with spin-$j$ (i.e., $(2j+1)$-dimensional) auxiliary space. The associated $T$-$Q$ relation is derived from the fusion hierarchy of the model. We use this relation to determine the Bethe Ansatz solution of the eigenvalues of the fundamental transfer matrix. Our derivation for the $Q$-operator and the associated $T$-$Q$ relation can be applied to other models which have $sl_2$-like fusion rule.

Bethe Ansatz and boundary energy of the open spin-1/2 XXZ chain

Rajan Murgan

We review recent results on the Bethe Ansatz solutions for the eigenvalues of the transfer matrix of an integrable open XXZ quantum spin chain using functional relations which the transfer matrix obeys at roots of unity. First, we consider a case where at most two of the boundary parameters {{$\\alpha_-$,$\\alpha_+$,$\\beta_-$,$\\beta_+$}} are nonzero. A generalization of the Baxter $T-Q$ equation that involves more than one independent $Q$ is described. We use this solution to compute the boundary energy of the chain in the thermodynamic limit. We conclude the paper with a review of some results for the general integrable boundary terms, where all six boundary parameters are arbitrary.

Q-operators for the open Heisenberg spin chain

Rouven Frassek, István M. Szécsényi

We construct Q-operators for the open spin-12 XXX Heisenberg spin chain with diagonal boundary matrices. The Q-operators are defined as traces over an infinite-dimensional auxiliary space involving novel types of reflection operators derived from the boundary Yang–Baxter equation. We argue that the Q-operators defined in this way are polynomials in the spectral parameter and show that they commute with transfer matrix. Finally, we prove that the Q-operators satisfy Baxter's TQ-equation and derive the explicit form of their eigenvalues in terms of the Bethe roots.

On the Q operator and the spectrum of the XXZ model at root of unity

Yuan Miao, Jules Lamers, Vincent Pasquier

The spin- \frac{1}{2} 1 2 Heisenberg XXZ chain is a paradigmatic quantum integrable model. Although it can be solved exactly via Bethe ansatz techniques, there are still open issues regarding the spectrum at root of unity values of the anisotropy. We construct Baxter’s Q operator at arbitrary anisotropy from a two-parameter transfer matrix associated to a complex-spin auxiliary space. A decomposition of this transfer matrix provides a simple proof of the transfer matrix fusion and Wronskian relations. At root of unity a truncation allows us to construct the Q operator explicitly in terms of finite-dimensional matrices. From its decomposition we derive truncated fusion and Wronskian relations as well as an interpolation-type formula that has been conjectured previously. We elucidate the Fabricius–McCoy (FM) strings and exponential degeneracies in the spectrum of the six-vertex transfer matrix at root of unity. Using a semicyclic auxiliary representation we give a conjecture for creation and annihilation operators of FM strings for all roots of unity. We connect our findings with the `string-charge duality’ in the thermodynamic limit, leading to a conjecture for the imaginary part of the FM string centres with potential applications to out-of-equilibrium physics.

A Q-operator for open spin chains I. Baxter’s TQ relation

Bart Vlaar, Robert Weston

We construct a Q -operator for the open XXZ Heisenberg quantum spin chain with diagonal boundary conditions and give a rigorous derivation of Baxter’s TQ relation. Key roles in the theory are played by a particular infinite-dimensional solution of the reflection equation and by short exact sequences of intertwiners of the standard Borel subalgebras of U q ( s l ^ 2 ) . The resulting Bethe equations are the same as those arising from Sklyanin’s algebraic Bethe ansatz.

On correlation functions of the open XYZ spin 1/2 chain with boundary fields related by a constraint

Giuliano Niccoli, V. Terras

In this paper, we consider the quantum XYZ open spin-1/2 chain with boundary fields. We focus on the particular case in which the six boundary parameters are related by a single constraint enabling us to describe part of the spectrum by standard Bethe equations. We derive for this model exact representations for a set of elementary blocks of correlation functions, hence generalising to XYZ the results obtained in the XXZ open case in [1]. Our approach is also similar to the approach proposed in the XXZ case [1] : we solve the model by Sklyanin’s version of the quantum Separation of Variables, using Baxter’s Vertex-IRF transformation; in this framework, we identify a basis of local operators with a relatively simple action on the transfer matrix eigenstates; we then use the solution of the quantum inverse problem and our recent formulae on scalar products of separate states [2] to compute some of the corresponding matrix elements, which can therefore be considered as elementary building blocks for the correlation functions. The latter are expressed in terms of multiple sums in the finite chain, and as multiple integrals in the thermodynamic limit. Our results evidence that, once the basis of local operators is properly chosen, the corresponding building blocks for correlation functions have a similar structure in the XXX/XXZ/XYZ open chains, and do not require any insertion of non-local ”tail operators”.

Auxiliary matrices for the six-vertex model and the algebraic Bethe ansatz

Christian Korff

We connect two alternative concepts of solving integrable models, Baxter's method of auxiliary matrices (or Q -operators) and the algebraic Bethe ansatz. The main steps of the calculation are performed in a general setting and a formula for the Bethe eigenvalues of the Q -operator is derived. A proof is given for states which contain up to three Bethe roots. Further evidence is provided by relating the findings to the six-vertex fusion hierarchy. For the XXZ spin-chain we analyse the cases when the deformation parameter of the underlying quantum group is evaluated both at and away from a root of unity.

QQQ-operator and TTT-QQQ relation for the open XYZ chain
We propose that the Baxter's QQQ-operator for the XYZ quantum spin chain with open boundary conditions is given by the jtoinftyj\\to \\inftyjtoinfty limit of the corresponding transfer matrix with spin-jjj (i.e., (2j+1)(2j+1)(2j+1)-dimensional) auxiliary space. The associated TTT-QQQ relation is derived from the fusion hierarchy of the model. We use this relation to determine the Bethe Ansatz solution of the eigenvalues of the fundamental transfer matrix. Our derivation for the QQQ-operator and the associated TTT-QQQ relation can be applied to other models which have sl2sl_2sl2-like fusion rule.
We review recent results on the Bethe Ansatz solutions for the eigenvalues of the transfer matrix of an integrable open XXZ quantum spin chain using functional relations which the transfer matrix obeys at roots of unity. First, we consider a case where at most two of the boundary parameters {{alpha−\\alpha_-alpha−,alpha+\\alpha_+alpha+,beta−\\beta_-beta−,beta+\\beta_+beta+}} are nonzero. A generalization of the Baxter T−QT-QT−Q equation that involves more than one independent QQQ is described. We use this solution to compute the boundary energy of the chain in the thermodynamic limit. We conclude the paper with a review of some results for the general integrable boundary terms, where all six boundary parameters are arbitrary.
