Abstract

Two-mode Fock space, as a Hilbert space spanned by two-mode occupation number state vectors, is widely used in quantum mechanics and quantum optics. In this work we derive some new operator identifies in this space which can help us to prove a completeness relation in the two-mode Fock space. Let a(a~+) and b(b~+) be annihilation (creation) operators of two-mode harmonic

Some New Completeness Relations in Multi-Mode Fock Space

Hong-Yi Fan

Using the technique of integration within an ordered product (IWOP) of operators we find some new continuum state vectors which span completeness relations in multi-mode Fock space. This fact tells us that the representation theory in quantum mechanics need to be studied in more detail.

Inverse operators in Fock space studied via a coherent-state approach

Fan Hong‐Yi

The Fock representation of the inverse of harmonic-oscillator creation and annihilation operators [see, e.g., C. L. Mehta, Anil K. Roy, and G. M. Saxena, Phys. Rev. A 46, 1565 (1992)] are naturally derived via a coherent-state approach. The completeness relation of Fock space is reexpressed by the inverse operators. Applications of the inverse operators in studying the phase operators and in normally ordering some operators are given.

Second Quantization as a Graded Hilbert Space Representation

Donald H. Kobe

A review of the second quantization formulation of quantum mechanics is given based on the idea of a graded Hilbert space whose elements are represented by column matrices containing zero, one, two, ···, particle functions. The creation and annihilation operators are defined in terms of intuitive ideas about adding a particle to or removing a particle from the system. The (anti)commutation relations are shown to follow from the (anti)symmetry of the wavefunctions. The field operators which describe the creation or annihilation of a particle at a point are then obtained and their properties discussed. These operators are then used to express general operators in second quantization. Finally, a basis is introduced and the equations of occupation-number space are obtained.

Some q -Deformed Combinat orial Identities and Their Applications

Sicong Jing, Hong-Yi Fan

A q -deformed binomial theorem is firstly presented in this work. Some operator identities in q -deformed two-mode Fock space are derived by virtue of the q -binomial theorem. As an application of these identities, we prove a new completeness relation for the q -analogue of the single-complex-variable-state in the two-mode Fock space.

Introduction to the "second quantization" formalism for non-relativistic quantum mechanics: A possible substitution for Sections 6.7 and 6.8 of Feynman's "Statistical Mechanics"

Hal Tasaki

This is a self-contained and hopefully readable account on the method of creation and annihilation operators (also known as the Fock space representation or the "second quantization" formalism) for non-relativistic quantum mechanics of many particles. Assuming knowledge only on conventional quantum mechanics in the wave function formalism, we define the creation and annihilation operators, discuss their properties, and introduce corresponding representations of states and operators of many-particle systems. As the title of the note suggests, we cover most topics treated in sections 6.7 and 6.8 of Feynman's "Statistical Mechanics: A Set of Lectures". As a preliminary, we also carefully discuss the symmetry of wave functions describing indistinguishable particles. We note that all the contents of the present note are completely standard, and the definitions and the derivations presented here have been known to many. Although the style of the present note may be slightly more mathematical than standard physics literatures, we do not try to achieve full mathematical rigor.(Note to experts: In particular we here DERIVE the (anti)commutation relations of the creation and annihilation operators, rather than simply declaring them. In this sense our approach is quite close to that of Feynman's. But we here focus on the action of creation/annihilation operators on general $N$ body wave functions, while Feynman makes a heavy use of Slater-determinant-type states from the beginning. We hope that our presentation provides a better perspective on the formalism.)

New Two-Mode Coherent-Intermediate-Entangled State and Its Squeezing Operator

Shi-Min Xu, Xing-Lei Xu, Hongqi Li

The coherent-intermediate-entangled state |α, x ⟩ λ,ν is proposed in the two-mode Fock Space, which exhibits both the properties of the coherent and entangled states. The |α, x ⟩ λ,ν makes up a new quantum mechanical representation, and the completeness relation of |α, x ⟩ λ,ν is proved by virtue of the technique of integral within an ordered product of operators. The corresponding squeezing operators are derived. Furthermore, Generalized P-representation is constructed in the coherent-intermediate-entangled state |α, x ⟩ λ,ν and the Schmidt decomposition of |α, x ⟩ λ,ν is investigated.
