Abstract

We propose a scheme to achieve a kind of nontrivial multipartite pair-wise controlled phase operation in a cavity QED setup. The operation implemented is of geometrical nature and is not sensitive to the thermal state of the cavity. In particular, we have managed to avoid the conventional dispersive coupling so that high speed gate operation is achieved which is very important in view of decoherence. We show that this multipartite pair-wise controlled phase operation makes the generation of two-dimensional cluster states very efficient.

ENTANGLEMENT GENERATION WITH GEOMETRIC OPERATIONS IN CAVITY QED

Gang Zhang, Ping Dong, Zhuo‐Liang Cao

We propose a one-step cluster state generation scheme via atomic cavity QED. The current scheme is insensitive to the cavity mode thermal state as well as the atomic spontaneous emission since the gate operations are independent of the cavity mode states and laser power is sufficiently weak. In addition, the needed operation is of geometric nature, so it is robust against random operation errors.

Generation of cluster states in thermal cavity

Meifeng Chen, Songshe Ma, Xiaolan Zhang

A scheme is reported for generating a multi-atom cluster state in thermal cavities, which is based on the simultaneous interaction of two two-level atoms with a single-mode cavity field driven by a classical field. The photon-number-dependent parts in the evolution operator are cancelled with the assistant of a strong classical field, so the scheme is insensitive to the thermal field. In the present scheme, the detuning between the atoms and the cavity is equal to the atom-cavity coupling strength, thus the operation speed is greatly improved, which is important in view of decoherence.

Schemes for generating the cluster states in microwave cavity QED

XuBo Zou, Wolfgang M. Mathis

We propose two experimental schemes to generate the cluster states in the context of microwave cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED). In the first scheme to prepare many cavities into the cluster states, we encode the vacuum state and one-photon state of the microwave cavity as the logic zero and one of the qubits. The second scheme is to prepare many atoms into the cluster states, where qubits are represented by the states of Rydberg atoms. Both schemes require the resonant atom-cavity interaction so that the quantum dynamics operates at a high speed, which is important in view of decoherence.

Generation of cluster states

Ping Dong, Zheng‐Yuan Xue, Ming Yang +1 more

We propose two schemes for the generation of cluster states. One is based on cavity quantum electrodynamics (QED) techniques. The scheme only requires resonant interactions between two atoms and a single-mode cavity. The interaction time is very short, which is important in view of decoherence. Furthermore, we also discuss the cavity decay and atomic spontaneous emission case. The other is based on atomic ensembles. The scheme has an inherent fault tolerance function and is robust to realistic noise and imperfections. All the facilities used in our schemes are well within the current technology.

Generation of multi-atom cluster states via an unconventional geometric phase shift in cavity QED

Jin Xing-Ri, Ying-Qiao Zhang, Zhang Shou +1 more

This paper proposes two schemes to generate the multi-atom cluster states. The first scheme is based on the interaction of atoms with a highly detuned cavity mode and a classical field, the second scheme is based on the interaction of atoms with a cavity mode, strongly driven by a resonant classical field.

Generation of two-dimensional cluster states by using high-finesse bimodal cavities

Denis Gonţa, Thomas Radtke, S. Fritzsche

We propose two schemes to generate the two-dimensional $2\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}N$ and $3\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}N$ cluster states by using a chain of (two-level) Rydberg atoms in the framework of cavity QED. These schemes work in a completely deterministic way and are based on the resonant interaction of the atoms in a chain with a bimodal cavity that supports two independent modes of the photon field. We demonstrate that a $2\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}N$ cluster state can be generated efficiently with only a single bimodal cavity, while two such cavities are needed to produce a $3\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}N$ cluster state. It is shown, moreover, how these schemes can be extended toward the generation of $M\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}N$ two-dimensional cluster states.
