Improving quantum interference visibility between independent photon sources

Hsin-Pin Lo, Kai. Asaoka, Hiroki Takesue

We compared two methods to improve the quantum interference between independent sources: decreasing the pump pulse width or interference filter bandwidth. We found both improved visibilities but with a larger coincidence rate with the former.

We report a raw quantum interference visibility of 90 ± 1% between telecom photons emitted by a weak coherent state source (WCSS) and an entangled photon pair source (EPPS).
