Abstract

The higher-order fundamental quantum-mechanical fluctuation is given on the base of the higher-order uncertainty relation, from which the definition of higher-order squeezing for atomic dipole is introduced. As an example, we examine the second-, fourth-and sixth-order squeezing of atomic dipole in the two-photon Jaynes-Cummings model with the two-photon superposition state preparation.

HIGHER-ORDER FLUCTUATIONS AND THEIR SQUEEZING OF ANGULAR MOMENTUM IN ATOMIC COHERENT STATES

H. Huan

The second ,fourth and sixth order fluctuations have been discussed by making use of SU (2)Lie algebra. On the basis of higher order uncertainty relation, the definition of higher order squeezing for the fluctuations of angular momentum has been put forward. In particular, the second ,fourth and sixth order squeezing in atomic coherent states are investigated. These methods and definition can be used for studying much higher order squeezing. The higher order squeezing can be generalized to the fluctuations of atomic variances thereby.

Higher-order squeezing of atomic dipole in the nonlinear Jaynes-Cummings model

Tian Yong

The time evolution properties of higher order squeezing of atomic dipole and its producing conditions in the nonlinear two photon Jaynes Cummings model are studied. It is shown that the two order and six order quantum fluctuation of the branch part of the atomic dipole chromatic dispersion or absorption can be periodically squeezed in a weak intensity field. The nonlinear correction term, the two photon frequency detuning and thermal noise have a remarkable influence on the squeezing.

Dipole squeezing in the two-photon Jaynes-Cummings model with superposition state preparation

Peng Zhou, Jin Sheng Peng

Quantum fluctuations of atomic dipole variables in the two-photon Jaynes-Cummings model are discussed. It is shown that dipole squeezing can be exhibited in certain periods of time evolution of the system for superposition state preparations, and also that the dipole fluctuations cannot be squeezed in atomic spontaneous radiation processes.

Fourth-order squeezing in the multiphoton Jaynes-Cummings model

Fam Le Kien, M. Kozierowski, Tran Quang

Hong and Mandel's concept of higher-order squeezing [Phys. Rev. Lett. 54, 323 (1985); Phys. Rev. A 32, 974 (1985)] is applied to the generalized multiphoton Jaynes-Cummings model of a single two-level atom interacting with an initially coherent cavity-field mode. The fourth-order squeezing is examined. The field is shown to be intrinsically squeezed to this order for the photon multiple m\ensuremath{\ge}4.

Generation of Atomic Dipole Squeezing in the Thermal Two-Photon Jaynes-Cummings Model

Rui‐Hua Xie

Historically, the Heisenberg lower limit is used as the reference level for the definitionof squeezing in observables. However, in the measurement of observables correspondingto noncanonical operators, it may not work [Puri, Phys. Rev. A49, 2178 (1994)]. Then, one should employ the Schrodinger uncertainty relation for further studies, where theSchrodinger lower limit sets a higher bound on quantum fluctuations than the Heisen-berg one does. In this paper, using Heisenberg ™s and Schrodinger uncertainty relations,we have made a comparative study on the squeezing properties of quantum fluctuationsin atomic dipole variables in the thermal two-photon Jaynes-Cummings model, includ-ing the discussion of the difference between both cases, the influence of initial atomiccoherence or thermal photons on the atomic dipole squeezing, and the possibility of real-ization of atomic dipole squeezing in two-photon micromaser experiments with Rydbergatoms in a high-Q cavity.PACS. 42.50.D~ - Nonclassical field states; squeezed, antibunched, and sub-Poissonianstates; operational definitions of the phase of the field; phasemeasurements.PACS. 42.5O.L~ - Quantum fluctuations, quantum noise, and quantum jumps.PACS. 32.80.-t - Photon interactions with atoms.
