Abstract

We introduce a kind of non-Gaussian entangled state, which can be obtained by operating a non-local coherent photon-subtraction operation on a two-mode squeezed vacuum. It is found that its normalization factor is only related to the Legendre polynomials, which is a compact expression. Its statistical properties are discussed by the negative region Wigner function with the analytical expression. As an application, the quantum teleportation for coherent states is considered by using the non-Gaussian state as an entangled channel. It is found that the teleportation fidelity can be enhanced by this non-Gaussian operation.

Statistical properties of coherent photon-added two-mode squeezed vacuum and its inseparability

Liyun Hu, Zhiming Zhang

We investigate the statistical properties and inseparability of the field states generated by any order nonlocal coherent photon addition (CPA) to the two-mode squeezed vacuum (TMSV). It is shown that the normalization factor of the CPA-TMSV is a Legendre polynomial, a compact expression. The statistical properties are discussed according to the analytical expressions of cross-correlation function, antibunching effect, and the negativity of its Wigner function. The inseparability is presented by using Shchukin–Vogel criteria and the Einstein–Podolsky–Rosen correlation. It is found that the symmetrical CPA-TMSV may possess stronger correlation than the single-mode photon-addition case. The lower bound of entanglement of the CPA-TMSV is considered, which indicates the logarithmic negativity is invalid for verifying the entanglement when the squeezing parameter is less than a threshold value, a period function of π/2. In addition, quantum teleportation is examined, which shows that asymmetric photon-added TMSV may be more useful for teleportation than the symmetric case.

Entanglement of coherent superposition of photon-subtraction squeezed vacuum

Cunjin Liu, Wei Ye, Weidong Zhou +3 more

A new kind of non-Gaussian quantum state is introduced by applying nonlocal coherent superposition (τa + sb) m of photon subtraction to two single-mode squeezed vacuum states, and the properties of entanglement are investigated according to the degree of entanglement and the average fidelity of quantum teleportation. The state can be seen as a single-variable Hermitian polynomial excited squeezed vacuum state, and its normalization factor is related to the Legendre polynomial. It is shown that, for τ = s, the maximum fidelity can be achieved, even over the classical limit (1/2), only for even-order operation m and equivalent squeezing parameters in a certain region. However, the maximum entanglement can be achieved for squeezing parameters with a π phase difference. These indicate that the optimal realizations of fidelity and entanglement could be different from one another. In addition, the parameter τ/s has an obvious effect on entanglement and fidelity.

Non-Gaussian entangled states and quantum teleportation of Schrödinger-cat states

Kaushik Parasuram Seshadreesan, Jonathan P Dowling, G. S. Agarwal

In continuous-variable quantum information, non-Gaussian entangled states that are obtained from Gaussian entangled states via photon subtraction are known to contain more entanglement. This makes them better resources for quantum information processing protocols, such as, quantum teleportation. We discuss the teleportation of non-Gaussian, non-classical Schrödinger-cat states of light using two-mode squeezed vacuum light that is made non-Gaussian via subtraction of a photon from each of the two modes. We consider the experimentally realizable cat states produced by subtracting a photon from the single-mode squeezed vacuum state. We discuss two figures of merit for the teleportation process, (a) the fidelity, and (b) the maximum negativity of the Wigner function at the output. We elucidate how the non-Gaussian entangled resource lowers the requirements on the amount of squeezing necessary to achieve any given fidelity of teleportation, or to achieve negative values of the Wigner function at the output.

Nonclassicality and teleportation fidelity of coherent photon-subtracted two-mode squeezed thermal states

Heng-Mei Li, Zhen Wang, Bao-Hua Yang +1 more

Abstract The coherent photon-subtracted two-mode squeezed thermal states (CPS-TMSTS) are theoretically introduced by successively performing coherent photon subtraction operation on the two-mode squeezed thermal states (TMSTS). Based upon the normalization factor which is related to bivariate Hermite polynomials, the nonclassicality and non-Gaussianity are analyzed according to the Wigner function. It is shown that the coherent photon subtraction operation is an effective manner in generating nonclassicality and non-Gaussianity. Furthermore, the fidelity in teleporting coherent states using CPS-TMSTS as entangled resources is quantified both analytically and numerically. It is shown that the quantities of fidelity are clearly larger than that in the original TMSTS, and it can be further improved by modulating control parameters effectively. The CPS-TMSTS, as the ideal entangled resources with higher quantum teleportation fidelity, shall have potential applications in quantum optics tasks.

Statistical properties and decoherence of two-mode photon-subtracted squeezed vacuum

Liyun Hu, Xue-Xiang, Hong-Yi Fan

We investigate the statistical properties of the photon-subtractions from the two-mode squeezed vacuum state and its decoherence in a thermal environment. It is found that the state can be considered as a squeezed two-variable Hermite polynomial excitation vacuum and the normalization of this state is the Jacobi polynomial of the squeezing parameter. The compact expression for Wigner function (WF) is also derived analytically by using the Weyl ordered operators' invariance under similar transformations. Especially, the nonclassicality is discussed in terms of the negativity of WF. The effect of decoherence on this state is then discussed by deriving the analytical time evolution results of WF. It is shown that the WF is always positive for any squeezing parameter and photon-subtraction number if the decay time exceeds an upper bound (}$κt>{1/2}\ln \frac{2\bar{n}+2}{2\bar{n}+1}).
