We investigate the influence of environmental decoherence on the dynamics of a coupled qubit system and quantum correlation. We analyse the relationship between concurrence and the degree of initial entanglement or the purity of initial quantum state, and also their relationship with quantum discord. The results show that the decrease of the purity of an initial quantum state can induce the attenuation of concurrence or quantum discord, but the attenuation of quantum discord is obviously slower than the concurrence's, correspondingly the survival time of quantum discord is longer. Further investigation reveals that the robustness of quantum discord and concurrence relies on the entanglement degree of the initial quantum state. The higher the degree of entanglement, the more robust the quantum discord is than concurrence. And the reverse is equally true. Birth and death happen to quantum discord periodically and a newborn quantum discord comes into being under a certain condition, so does the concurrence.

In this paper, we investigate the quantum correlation of coupled qubits which are initially in maximally entangled mixed states in a squeezed vacuum reservoir. We compare and analyze the effects of squeezed parameters on quantum discord and quantum concurrence. The results show that in a squeezed vacuum reservoir, the quantum discord and quantum concurrence perform with completely opposite behaviors with the change of squeezed parameters. Quantum discord survives longer with the increase of squeezed amplitude parameter, but entanglement death is faster on the contrary. The results also indicate that the classical correlation of the system is smaller than quantum discord in a vacuum reservoir, while it is bigger than quantum discord in a squeezed vacuum reservoir. The quantum discord and classical correlation are more robust than quantum concurrence in the two reservoir environments, which indicates that the entanglement actually is easily affected by decoherence and quantum discord has a stronger ability to avoid decoherence in a squeezed vacuum reservoir.
Correlations in open quantum systems exhibit peculiar phenomena under the effect of various sources of noise. Here, we investigate the dynamics of entanglement and quantum discord (QD) for three noninteracting qubits coupled with a classical environmental static noise characterized by an external random field. Two initial entangled states of the system are examined, namely, the GHZ- and [Formula: see text]-type states. The system-environment interaction is here analyzed in three different configurations, namely, independent, mixed and common environments. We find that the dynamics of quantum correlations are strongly affected by the type of system-environment interaction and the purity of the initial entangled state. Indeed, depending on the type of interaction and the value of the purity of the initial state, peculiar phenomena such as sudden death, revivals and long-time survival of quantum correlations are observed. On the other hand, our results clearly show that quantum correlations initially present in the [Formula: see text]-type states are less robust than those of the GHZ-type states. Furthermore, we find that the long-time survival of entanglement can be detected by means of the suitable entanglement witnesses.
The quantum correlation dynamics in an anisotropic Heisenberg XYZ model under decoherence are investigated with the use of concurrence C and quantum discord (QD). There is a remarkable difference between the time evolution behaviors of these two correlation measures: there is a entanglement-sudden-death phenomenon in the concurrence while there is none in QD, which is valid for all of the initial states of this system, and the interval time of the entanglement death is found to be strongly dependent on the initial states and the parameters B and Δ. With the long-time limit the steady entanglement (SC) and steady quantum discord (SQD) can be obtained. The magnitudes of SC and SQD are closely related to the parameters B and Δ, while the strength of the Dzyaloshinskii—Moriya interaction, D, has no influence. In addition, the effects of the parameters B and Δ on SC and SQD display such different and complicated features that one cannot obtain a uniform law about them, thus we give an analytical explanation of this phenomenon. Lastly, it can be noted that the value of SC is not always larger than SQD, which is strongly dependent on the parameters B and Δ.
By considering a double Jaynes—Cummings model, we investigate the dynamics of quantum correlations, such as the quantum discord and the entanglement, for two atoms in their respective noisy environments, and study the effect of the purity and the cavity temperature on the quantum correlations. The results show that the entanglement suffers sudden death and revival, however the quantum discord can still reveal the quantum correlations between the two atoms in the region where the entanglement is zero. Moreover, when the temperature of each cavity is high the entanglement dies out in a short time, but the quantum discord still survives for quite a long time. It means that the quantum discord is more resistant to environmental disturbance than the entanglement at higher temperatures.
We investigate the dynamical evolution of quantum discord, entanglement and purity in an open quantum system of two coupled asymmetric harmonic oscillators interacting with a thermal environment. Using the Kossakowski-Lindblad master equation we analyze the time evolution starting with a squeezed vacuum state. In contrast to our previous study on entanglement evolution in asymmetric oscillators, the present work introduces XY-type position-position coupling together with a systematic joint analysis of quantum discord and purity alongside entanglement. We examine the combined effects of the squeezing parameter, asymmetry parameter, coupling constant, dissipation rate and temperature. We find that quantum discord and entanglement exhibit, in general, a non-monotonic decrease over time. Increasing temperature consistently accelerates the degradation of both quantum correlations and purity, whereas increasing dissipation accelerates the degradation of quantum correlations but leads to higher steady-state purity. Increasing the squeezing parameter provides a protective effect by enhancing initial correlations and prolonging entanglement survival time, while increasing the coupling constant leads to higher quantum correlations. The asymmetry parameter exhibits only a weak influence on the correlation evolution. Our analysis reveals that quantum discord demonstrates stronger resilience than entanglement, which can present more complex behaviour including entanglement sudden death and possible temporary revivals and re-suppressions. These findings provide valuable insights for developing robust quantum information protocols and strategies for preserving quantum correlations in realistic open quantum systems, with potential extensions to non-Markovian regimes and multi-mode architectures.
The quantum correlations, including entanglement and discord with its geometric measure, and classical correlation are studied for a bipartite partition of a open or closed quantum system. It is found that the purity of the initial state plays an important role in the dynamics of quantum and classical correlations. In the dephasing model, the quantum correlations loss and the classical correlation gain are instantaneously happen. While, the purity of the initial state destroys the quantum correlations which is resulted by the unitary interaction. Therefore, with the purity parameter, a particular region in which there is no state have quantum correlations can be determined.
