Creation of quantum correlations via the initial classical-mixed states

Abstract

Using the pseudomode method, we theoretically analyze the creation of quantum correlations between two two-level dipole—dipole interacting atoms coupled with a common structured reservoir with different coupling strengths. Considering certain classes of initial separable-mixed states, we demonstrate that the sudden birth of atomic entanglement as well as the generation of stationary quantum correlations occur. Our results also suggest a possible way to control the occurrence time of entanglement sudden birth and the stationary value of quantum correlations by modifying the initial conditions of states, the dipole—dipole interaction, and the relative coupling strength. These results are helpful for the experimental engineering of entanglement and quantum correlations.

Delayed birth of distillable entanglement in the evolution of bound entangled states

Łukasz Derkacz, Lech Jakóbczyk

The dynamical creation of entanglement between three-level atoms coupled to the common vacuum is investigated. For the class of bound entangled initial states, we show that the dynamics of closely separated atoms generates stationary distillable entanglement of asymptotic states. We also find that the effect of delayed sudden birth of distillable entanglement occurs in the case of atoms separated by a distance comparable with the radiation wavelength.

Sudden birth and control of entanglement between two atoms successively passing through a bimodal cavity

Liao Qing-Hong, Liu Ye

The dynamics of entanglement of two atoms passing through a bimodal cavity one after another are investigated by employing the concurrence. The effects of the atomic coherence of the first atom and the initial entanglement of the cavity field on the time evolution of atom-atom entanglement are analyzed. The results show that the phenomenon of sudden birth of entanglement between two atoms occurs under some conditions and the maximum for the creation of the entanglement is dependent on the initial entanglement of the cavity field. Moreover, the threshold time and maximum for the creation of the entanglement can be controlled by changing the amplitude of atom. We find that the proposal may provide us with a theoretical way to control and manipulate the entanglement.

Dif ferent entanglement dynamics and transfer behaviors due to dipole-dipole interaction

We analyze entanglement dynamics and transfer in a system composed of two initially correlated two-level atoms, in which each atom is coupled with another atom interacting with its own reservoir.Considering atomic dipole-dipole interactions, the results show that dipole-dipole interactions restrain the entanglement birth of the reservoirs, and a parametric region of dipole-dipole interaction strength exists in which the maximal entanglement of two initially uncorrelated atoms is reduced. The transfer of entanglement shows obvious different behaviors in two initial Bell-like states.

Spontaneously created entanglement between two atoms

Z. Ficek

Spontaneous emission as a potential tool for creation of entanglement between two atoms is investigated. We assume that the atoms are coupled to the same environment and study entanglement engineering between the atoms and its transfer between different states. The role of the atomic coherence induced by spontaneous emission will be explored which, in contrast to what is generally believed, can create entanglement between initially unentangled atoms. We quantify entanglement by the concurrence and find that it exhibits threshold properties that can lead to interesting noncontinuous phenomena of sudden birth and sudden death of entanglement. In addition, we consider the mechanism involved in creation of entanglement between distant atoms coupled to a single-mode cavity field. We include a possible variation of the coupling constants between the atoms and the cavity mode with location of the atoms in a standing-wave cavity mode. Effectively, we engineer two coupled atoms whose the dynamics are analogous to that of interacting and collectively damped two nonidentical atoms. We illustrate the interesting result that spatial variations of the coupling constants can lead to a stationary entanglement between the atoms. We explain this effect in terms of the trapping phenomenon of atomic population in a non-decaying entangled state.

Sudden birth of entanglement between two initially separate atoms interacting with two entangled photons in a double JC model is investigated, and the influences of different atomic initial states on entanglement among atoms are discussed. The results show that sudden birth of entanglement can occur when the two atoms are initially in excited states.

Sudden death and sudden birth of entanglement in common structured reservoirs

L. Mazzola, Sabrina Maniscalco, Jyrki Piilo +2 more

We study the exact entanglement dynamics of two qubits in a common structured reservoir. We demonstrate that for certain classes of entangled states, entanglement sudden death occurs, while for certain initially factorized states, entanglement sudden birth takes place. The backaction of the non-Markovian reservoir is responsible for revivals of entanglement after sudden death has occurred, and also for periods of disentanglement following entanglement sudden birth.
