Artificial-noise-aided nonlinear secure transmission for MU-MISO wiretap channel with quantized CSIT

Liang Sun, Rui Wang, Hai Wang +1 more

We consider nonlinear transceiver design for downlink multiuser multi-antenna secure communications with an external multi-antenna eavesdropper. The multi-antenna transmitter simultaneously transmits confidential-message-bearing signals and artificial noise (AN) using nonlinear Tomlinson Harashima precoding based on the limited channel state information feedback. For the proposed nonlinear secure transceiver, we reveal the mechanism behind which makes this nonlinear precoding superior than the linear precoding methods in guaranteeing secrecy of wireless multiuser multi-antenna systems. We also obtain analytical bounds of the ergodic secrecy rate of each legitimate receiver and the ergodic secrecy sum rate of the system. Based on the analytical result, the near optimal power allocation to the information signals and AN can be obtained using numerical method. Numerical results are shown to verify the advantage of the proposed nonlinear method over the linear zero-forcing precoding.

Orthogonal random beamforming with beam selection for MISO wiretap broadcast channels

Lei Wang, Zhuo Wang, Minyan Pei

This paper studies the downlink of a wireless system with an M-antenna base station, K single-antenna legitimate users and a single-antenna eavesdropper. A limited feedback-based scheduling and precoding scenario is considered that employs the orthogonal random beamforming (ORBF). The sum-rate of ORBF exhibits an identical growth rate as that of dirty paper coding for a large number of users. Unfortunately, for more realistic (low to moderate) K values, ORBF yields degraded performance. It is shown that having as many active beams as the number of transmit antennas is not always optimal for sparse network, thus scheduling strategies for ORBF with beam selection is investigated. Several user-beam selection algorithms featuring different complexity levels are proposed and their performance in terms of secrecy sum-rate is assessed. Numerical results are provided to illustrate the impact of the number of active beams on the secrecy performance.

Coordination beamforming for secrecy enhancement in the downlink MU-MIMO cellular networks

Qin Zhang, Juan Bai, Linrang Zhang +2 more

In a conventional cellular wireless networks, single cell processing (SCP) is usually considered where inter-cell interference is treated as noise. As we know, interference can cause severe information leakage for secret communication, the paper studies the secrecy performance with coordination beamforming (CBf) scheme in the downlink of a two-cell multi-user MIMO (MU-MIMO) cellular network. For CBf, the BSs can jointly design their respective beamformers to control inter-cell interference. Based on regularized channel inversion (RCI) precoding, we derive the concise formulas for the signal-to interference plus noise (SINR) at a legitimate user and the colluding malicious users, and the achievable secrecy sum-rate for the CBf scheme. Furthermore, we obtain their corresponding approximation in large-system regime, in which the number of users per cell K and the number of antenna at BS N tend to infinity, while with their ratio β = K/N being held constant. The analytical results are validated with finite-size system by simulation. Compared with SCP without BS cooperation, simulation results show that the secrecy performance can be significantly enhanced by exploiting CBf scheme.
