Effect of Phase Noise on the Stationary Entanglement of an Optomechanical System with Kerr Medium

Abstract

We theoretically investigate the effect of phase noise on the stationary entanglement of an optomechanical system, which has the additional Kerr medium in the cavity. There are two kinds of interactions in the system, photon-mirror interaction and photon-photon interaction. We find that the optomechanical entanglement can be suppressed by the phase noise of the pumping laser and Kerr interaction of photons. We also find that Kerr interaction can make the phase-noise-induced double peak of the stationary entanglement change to a single peak.

Enhancing stationary optomechanical entanglement with the Kerr medium

Dan Zhang, Xiaoping Zhang, Qiang Zheng

We theoretically investigate the stationary entanglement of a optomechanical system with an additional Kerr medium in the cavity. There are two kinds of interactions in the system, photon—mirror interaction and photon—photon interaction. The optomechanical entanglement created by the former interaction can be effectively controlled by the latter one. We find that the optomechanical entanglement is suppressed by Kerr interaction due to photon blockage. We also find that the Kerr interaction can create the stationary entanglement and induce the resonance of entanglement in the small detuning regime. These results show that the Kerr interaction is an effective control for the optomechanical system.

Suppressing laser phase noise in an optomechanical system

Yexiong Zeng, Biao Xiong, Chong Li

We propose a scheme to suppress the laser phase noise without increasing the optomechanical single-photon coupling strength. In the scheme, the parametric amplification terms, created by Kerr and Duffing nonlinearities, can restrain laser phase noise and strengthen the effective optomechanical coupling, respectively. Interestingly, decreasing laser phase noise leads to increasing thermal noise, which is inhibited by bringing in a broadband-squeezed vacuum environment. To reflect the superiority of the scheme, we simulate quantum memory and stationary optomechanical entanglement as examples, and the corresponding numerical results demonstrate that the laser phase noise is extremely suppressed. Our method can pave the way for studying other quantum phenomena.

Qubit-assisted enhancement of quantum entanglement in an optomechanical system in the presence of Kerr medium

Driss Aoune, Noureddine Benrass, Nabil Habiballah +1 more

In this work, we investigate a theoretical study of the stationary entanglement of an optomechanical system by adding a Kerr medium in the cavity where the mechanical resonator is perturbatively connected to an auxiliary qubit. The degree of entanglement between the cavity field and the mechanical system is measured by using the logarithmic negativity. We show that optomechanical entanglement is decreased by Kerr interaction due to photon blockage enhanced by mirror–qubit coupling, we also show that this enhancement is influenced by the temperature. In addition, we find that, in the presence of the mirror–qubit coupling, entanglement can arise with far weaker optomechanical coupling. The proposed scheme shows that the presence of the mirror–qubit coupling and Kerr medium is an effective control for an optomechanical system.

Effect of phase noise on the generation of stationary entanglement in cavity optomechanics

Mehdi Abdi, Sh. Barzanjeh, P. Tombesi +1 more

We study the effect of laser phase noise on the generation of stationary entanglement between an intracavity optical mode and a mechanical resonator in a generic cavity optomechanical system. We show that one can realize robust stationary optomechanical entanglement even in the presence of non-negligible laser phase noise. We also show that the explicit form of the laser phase noise spectrum is relevant, and discuss its effect on both optomechanical entanglement and ground-state cooling of the mechanical resonator.

Enhancing stationary entanglement between two optomechanical oscillators by Coulomb interaction with Kerr medium*

Tian-Le Yang, Chen-Long Zhu, Sheng Liu +1 more

We theoretically study the stationary entanglement of two charged nanomechanical oscillators coupling via Coulomb interaction in an optomechanical system with an additional Kerr medium. We show that the degree of entanglementbetween two nanomechanical oscillators is suppressed by Kerr interaction dueto photon blockade and enhanced by Coulomb coupling strength. We also show other parameters for adjusting and obtaining entanglement, such as the driving power and the frequencies of the two oscillators, and the entanglement is robust against temperature. Our study proves a way for adjusting stationary entanglement between two optomechanical oscillators by Coulomb interaction and Kerr medium.

Effects of laser phase noise on optomechanical entanglement in the presence of a nonlinear Kerr downconverter

Rizwan Ahmed, Shahid Qamar

Abstract In this paper, we consider an optomechanical system with a Kerr downconversion element in the presence of pump laser phase noise (LPN). In particular, we study the effect of phase fluctuations on entanglement generation in the presence of a nonlinear Kerr downconverter. The steady-state entanglement spectrum depends upon the parametric gain and phase fluctuations associated with the driving field. Interestingly, our results show that optomechanical entanglement exists even for non-zero LPN. It has been shown that the presence of Kerr downconverter nonlinearity improves the robustness of the entanglement against the input LPN.
