Abstract

The exact solution of a model of nonequilibrium physics derived from the boundary symmetry in the form of deformed Onzager algebra is pre- sented. The symmetry is generated by nonlocal charges that render the model to be exactly solvable in the steady state and provide a unified description of the dynamics of the boundary driven process.

Tridiagonal Symmetries of Models of Nonequilibrium Physics

We study the boundary symmetries of models of nonequilibrium physics where the steady state behaviour strongly depends on the boundary rates.Within the matrix product state approach to many-body systems the physics is described in terms of matrices defining a noncommutative space with a quantum group symmetry.Boundary processes lead to a reduction of the bulk symmetry. We argue that the boundary operators of an interacting system with simple exclusion generate a tridiagonal algebra whose irreducible representations are expressed in terms of the Askey-Wilson polynomials. We show that the boundary algebras of the symmetric and the totally asymmetric processes are the proper limits of the partially asymmetric ones.In all three type of processes the tridiagonal algebra arises as a symmetry of the boundary problem and allows for the exact solvability of the model.

Dissipation-driven integrable fermionic systems: from graded Yangians to exact nonequilibrium steady states

Enej Ilievski

Using the Lindblad master equation approach, we investigate the structure of steady-state solutions of open integrable quantum lattice models, driven far from equilibrium by incoherent particle reservoirs attached at the boundaries. We identify a class of boundary dissipation processes which permits to derive exact steady-state density matrices in the form of graded matrix-product operators. All the solutions factorize in terms of vacuum analogues of Baxter’s Q-operators which are realized in terms of non-unitary representations of certain finite dimensional subalgebras of graded Yangians. We present a unifying framework which allows to solve fermionic models and naturally incorporates higher-rank symmetries. This enables to explain underlying algebraic content behind most of the previously-found solutions.

Exact solvability of a model of nonequilibrium physics

Abstract We discuss the exact solvability of a lattice model with a flow within the matrix product ansatz to interacting many‐body systems from the point of view of a tridiagonal boundary algebra. It reveals deep symmetry properties of the multiparticle process which allow for the exact solution in the stationary state and puts the description of the dynamics into perspective.
