Abstract

In this paper, we demonstrate that nanoscale phenomenon can be applied not only in device level but also in high layer applications, such as secure computation. We study the possibility of performing secure computation based on quantum entanglement, which is a phenomenon available only at the nanometer scale. Comparing with classical secure computation algorithms, the security of this protocol is based on physical laws, instead of any unproven mathematic conjecture.

Recent progress in nanotechnology has focused on applying nanoscale phenomenon in physical layer or device level applications. In this paper, we show that nanoscale phenomenon cannot only be used in physical layer, but also in high layer application such as communication protocols. In this paper, we study the possibility of performing authentication and encryption based on quantum entanglement, which is a phenomenon available only at the nanoscale level. Unlike classical authentication and encryption algorithms, the security of this protocol is based on nanoscale physical laws, instead of any unproven mathematic conjecture.

Traditionally, the authors could establish secure computation protocols using variants of public key cryptology whose security is based on hard mathematics problems. However, classical protocols will become insecure owing to the emergence of quantum algorithms like Shors. In this paper, the authors demonstrate that nanoscale phenomenon can be applied not only in device level but also in high layer applications, such as secure computation. The authors study the possibility of performing secure computation by building non-local machines based on quantum entanglement and non-locality, which are phenomena available only at the nanometre scale. Quantum entanglement is a phenomenon available only at nanometer scale. In this paper, we show how quantum entanglement can be used to build cryptographic primitives such as oblivious transfer. In addition to studying the protocol itself, we also show how to realize some applications based on our proposal. These include typical e-business applications such as contract signing, certified mail, simultaneous secret exchange, secure transaction and remote coin flip. Unlike classical oblivious transfer, the security of this protocol is based on physical laws, instead of any unproven mathematic conjecture. As a result, our proposal provides unconditional security for e-business

Study of Quantum Entanglement and Its Applications in Quantum Computing

One of the key non-classical resources involved in the promise of quantum computing is quantum entanglement. It allows for correlations between qubits that are not possible by independent local states, thus it can be used for computational speed-up, quantum simulation, quantum error correction, quantum machine learning, and secure quantum communication. This paper explores the role of entanglement in quantum computing, and looks at its applications with a secondary-data based research design. This study will evaluate the progress of entanglement from a fundamental physical phenomenon to an engineering resource for processors, algorithms, and fault-tolerant architectures from peer-reviewed literature, institutional reports and public research data from 2018 to 2025. The paper is divided into five subheadings in the introduction, four subheadings in the literature review, a research methodology, and a results section with five secondary-data tables, and a conclusion. The findings reveal a significant acceleration in noisy intermediate-scale quantum devices between 2018 and 2025, along with efforts to prove quantum computational advantage, grow of variational algorithms and increased advancement toward logical qubits and quantum error correction. The evidence also shows that there are important limitations for practical quantum benefit, including decoherence, errors in quantum gates, difficulties loading data, benchmarking arguments, and the high cost of overhead error correction in fault-tolerant quantum computing. The authors conclude that entanglement is not just a theoretical property of quantum physics, but the resource that is needed to link hardware and software with applications. In the future, fidelity of entangling gates, scalable qubit connectivity, error-mitigated algorithms, and fault-tolerant logical qubit designs will all be important.
