Abstract

We study the interaction of a four level-atom with a single mode in a cavity, involving intensity dependent coupling with additional a kirr-like medium. The wave function is obtained when the atom is initially in superposition of its upper and ground states and the field in coherent state. We evaluate the Mandel Q parameter, phase probability distribution and the field entropy. The influence of the Kerr medium, the detuning and the presence of the intensity dependent coupling on their evolution was discussed.

Dynamics of Entropy and Nonclassicality Features of the Interaction between a ⋄-type Four-Level Atom and a Single-Mode Field in the Presence of Intensity-Dependent Coupling and Kerr Nonlinearity

Hamid Reza Baghshahi, Mohammad Kazem Tavassoly, Abbas Behjat

The interaction between a $\diamondsuit$-type four-level atom and a single-mode field in the presence of Kerr medium with intensity-dependent coupling involving multi-photon processes has been studied. Using the generalized (nonlinear) Jaynes-Cummings model, the exact analytical solution of the wave function for the considered system under particular condition, has been obtained when the atom is initially excited to the topmost level and the field is in a coherent state. Some physical properties of the atom-field entangled state such as linear entropy showing the entanglement degree, Mandel parameter, mean photon number and normal squeezing of the resultant state have been calculated. The effects of Kerr medium, detuning and the intensity-dependent coupling on the temporal behavior of the latter mentioned nonclassical properties have been investigated. It is shown that by appropriately choosing the evolved parameters in the interaction process, each of the above nonclassicality features, which are of special interest in quantum optics as well as quantum information processing, can be revealed.

MOVING FOUR-LEVEL ATOM INTERACTING WITH A SINGLE-MODE FIELD WITH INTENSITY DEPENDENT COUPLING

R. A. Zait

We study the interaction of a moving four-level atom with a single mode cavity field. Involving intensity dependent coupling, the atom-field wave function and the reduced density matrix of the field are obtained when the atom is initially prepared in a coherent superposition of the upper and ground states and the field is initially in a coherent state. The influence of the intensity dependent atom-field coupling and of the detuning on the collapse and revival phenomenon of the time evolution of statistical aspects, such as the mean photon number, the second-order correlation function of the field, the momentum increment and momentum diffusion, are investigated. It is found that, for the nonresonant case, the detuning between the field and the atom has a significant influence which leads to increasing the collapse time with decreasing amplitude. Numerical computations and discussion of the results are presented.

Dynamics of a deformed atom cavity field system in presence of a Kerr-like medium

Arpita Chatterjee

In this paper, we investigate the interaction between a vee-type three-level atom and a single mode of the electromagnetic field in the presence of a nonlinear Kerr-like medium and an intensity-dependent coupling. We have elucidated the system by a nonlinear Hamiltonian constructed from the standard Jaynes–Cummings model by deforming the field operators and adding some nonlinear terms. Using the initial conditions that the atom is prepared in an excited state and the field is in a coherent state, the state vector of the entire system is determined analytically. The time evolution of nonclassical properties such as Mandel Q, quantum entanglement and position-momentum uncertainty relation (squeezing) of the field are investigated. The quasiprobability distributions are also computed for the resultant state. The effects of the detuning parameters, generalized Kerr medium and intensity-dependent coupling on the previous nonclassicality signs are analysed, in detail.

A MOVING RUBIDIUM ATOM INTERACTING WITH A SINGLE MODE CAVITY FIELD IN THE PRESENCE OF KERR MEDIUM

R. A. Zait, N. H. Abd El-Wahab

We study the interaction between a moving four-level rubidium atom and a single mode cavity field in the presence of a nonlinear Kerr-like medium. We derive the basic equations of motion for the atomic system and show that it is exactly solvable in the rotating wave approximation. The momentum increment, the momentum diffusion and the quasi-probability distribution Q-function of this system are studied. We investigate numerically the influence of the Kerr medium on the evolution of the previous statistical properties in the exact resonant and nonresonant cases where the atom is initially in the ground state and the field is in a coherent state. It is found that the Kerr medium has an important effect on their evolutions. Finally, conclusions and discussion are given.

Dynamics of entropy and nonclassical properties of the state of a Λ-type three-level atom interacting with a single-mode cavity field with intensity-dependent coupling in a Kerr medium

Mohammad Javad Faghihi, Mohammad Kazem Tavassoly

In this paper, we study the interaction between a three-level atom and a quantized single-mode field with 'intensity-dependent coupling' in a 'Kerr medium'. The three-level atom is considered to be in a Λ-type configuration. Under particular initial conditions, which may be prepared for the atom and the field, the dynamical state vector of the entire system will be explicitly obtained, for the arbitrary nonlinearity function f(n) associated with any physical system. Then, after evaluating the variation of the field entropy against time, we will investigate the quantum statistics as well as some of the nonclassical properties of the introduced state. During our calculations we investigate the effects of intensity-dependent coupling, Kerr medium and detuning parameters on the depth and domain of the nonclassicality features of the atom–field state vector. Finally, we compare our obtained results with those of V -type three-level atoms.

ONE-MODE INTERACTION WITH A FOUR-LEVEL ATOM IN A MOMENTUM EIGENSTATE

N. H. Abdel-Wahab, Magdy E. Amin, M. Taha

We study the interaction between a four-level atom (ladder type) in a momentum eigenstate with a single mode cavity field in the presence of non-linearities of both the field and the intensity-dependent coupling. The constants of motion and the wave function for the atomic system have been obtained. Special attention is given to discuss some statistical aspects of the considered atomic system such as mo-mentum increment, momentum diffusion and high-order squeezing. The influence of the Kerr-like medium and the intensity dependent coupling on the momentum increment and the high-order squeezing are investigated numerically. It is found that addition of these parameters has an important effect on both the momentum increment and the squeezing phenomenon.
