Nonlinear response formula for an interacting two-dimensional electron gas under a magnetic field and microwave radiation

Tadashi Toyoda, Maho Fujita, Hideki Koizumi +1 more

Introducing a canonical transformation of the second quantized field operators for two-dimensional interacting electrons under a uniform static magnetic field and a microwave radiation field, an exact formula that transforms the retarded density response function of the electrons to that of the electrons without the radiation field is derived. The formula provides a new way to treat the effects of the microwave radiation field on the electron density response when the conventional linear response approximation is not applicable.

Atomic Radiation

M.S. Rogalski, Stuart B. Palmer

The states of the atom, determined by the motion of electrons, are stationary in the presence of all internal atomic forces and of interactions with constant external fields. When electrons interact with the field associated with electromagnetic radiation, the atomic states are no longer stationary, and the time-dependent perturbation treatment has to be applied to calculate the effect produced by the radiation, which is a function of time. Consequently, as shown in Section 9.3 , the time evolution of the atom will be described in terms of transitions between the stationary states of the unperturbed atomic system.
