Evolutionary Design Technology of Quantum Reversible Logic Circuit Based on Matrix Coding

Zhang Zhai

The synthesis method of quantum reversible logic circuits based on the genetic algorithm was studied. The multi-objective optimal design of reversible logic circuit's function, the number of quantum gates, the number of garbage bits and quantum cost was achieved by new synthesis method. The mathematical model for quantum reversible logic circuit synthesis was established, the matrix encoding method of quantum reversible logic circuits was proposed, the evolution operations and the multi-objective evolutionary algorithm for quantum reversible logic circuit design were developed. The 8 bits reversible multiplier was designed as an example, the experimental results show that the proposed multi-objective evolutionary design method for quantum reversible logic circuit synthesis is correct and effective.

Quantum-Inspired Tabu Search Algorithm for reversible logic circuit synthesis

Wen-Hsin Wang, Chia-Hui Chiu, Shu–Yu Kuo +2 more

Reversible logic plays an important role in quantum computation, which is a promising research field. The reversible logic synthesis problem focuses on generating a reversible circuit automatically and finding the lowest cost when an output function is given. The synthesis of reversible logic circuits can be formulated as a combinatorial optimization problem. This paper proposes a new evolutionary algorithm for synthesizing reversible circuits based on Quantum-Inspired Tabu Search Algorithm (QTS). The proposed algorithm uses the QTS-based approach to find fewer gates and reduce the cost of reversible circuits. This method is simpler, has better performance in computational cost, and reduce the gate counts of reversible circuits. This paper also compares experimental results with other heuristic and evolutionary algorithms. The final outcome shows that the QTS-based approach performs much better than other algorithms.

Performance trade-off in decision diagram based synthesis of reversible logic circuits

H. V. Jayashree, Anmol Prakash Surhonne, V.K. Agrawal

Reversible computing is an emerging and promising technique due to its wide applications in quantum, optical and DNA computing and many more. Reversible circuit synthesis is a main focus for researchers as conventional synthesis techniques are not suitable for reversible circuits. Our work focuses on BDD based synthesis as it has capabilities of realizing circuit for large boolean functions unlike other reversible synthesis methods. Existing BDD based synthesis techniques rely on positive [1] and negative [2] controlled Toffoli gates. In this paper work we explore BDD based synthesis technique along with evolutionary computation method. We employed Fredkin and elementary CNOT gate library. Experimental results demonstrate that this approach reduces the gate count and quantum cost at the cost of increase in the number of lines.
