High Photon Information Efficient Imaging using Single Photon Source

Reihaneh Shahrokhshahi, Niranjan Sridhar, Olivier Pfister +8 more

We report progress towards information-efficient quantum imaging. We implemented a 4-mode interferometer (Fig.1) which uses both polarization and spatial encoding to image Hadamard-encoded phase arrays. We used this interferometer with a single-photon source to achieve the theoretical goal of Photon Information Efficiency (PIE)= 2 bits per photon (bpp). This demonstration is a particular case of a generalized M-path interferometer which can yield log2 M bits of information with a single measurement of a single photon, the photon being placed in the W state

Sub-Rayleigh quantum imaging using single-photon sources

C. Thiel, Thierry Bastin, Joachim von Zanthier +1 more

We propose a technique capable of imaging a distinct physical object with sub-Rayleigh resolution in an ordinary far-field imaging setup using single-photon sources and linear optical tools only. We exemplify our method for the case of a rectangular aperture and two or four single-photon emitters obtaining a resolution enhanced by a factor of 2 or 4, respectively.

Single-photon quantum imaging via single-photon illumination

Jia-Zhi Yang, Mingfei Li, Xiao-Xiao Chen +2 more

Quantum imaging based on entangled light, laser light, and thermal light has been extensively studied. However, single-photon quantum imaging is still in its infancy. In this paper, we perform quantum imaging using heralded single-photon sources and achieve single-photon illumination computational ghost imaging and single-photon illumination single-pixel camera imaging.
