Abstract

Linear entropy as a measure of entanglement is applied to explain conditions for minimal and maximal entanglement of bipartite nonorthogonal pure states. We formulate this measure in terms of the amplitudes of coherent states in the case of entangled coherent states and calculate the conditions. We generalize this formalism to the case of bipartite mixed states and show that the entanglement measure is also a function of the probabilities.

The purpose of this conference paper is to investigate the entanglement of a more general type of two qubitsnonorthogonal pure state by using the linear entropy as a measure of the degree of bipartite entangle-ment. Moreover, we study the behaviour of this entanglement measure in the context of Su(2)-coherentstates theory and we reformulate it as a function of some new parameters that specify coherent states. Finally we find some conditions for maximal and minimal entanglement of nonorthogonal states interms of the amplitudes of spin coherent states

ENTANGLEMENT OF TWO-QUBIT NONORTHOGONAL STATES

We studied the entangled two-qubit nonorthogonal pure states through spin coherent states. Using the concurrence as a measure of entanglement we express it as a function of the amplitudes of those states and find conditions for maximal and minimal entanglement.

Maximal Entanglement of Nonorthogonal States: Classification

Hong‐Chen Fu, Xiaoguang Wang, A. I. Solomon

A necessary and sufficient condition for the maximal entanglement of bipartite nonorthogonal pure states is found. The condition is applied to the maximal entanglement of coherent states. Some new classes of maximally entangled coherent states are explicited constructed; their limits give rise to maximally entangled Belllike states. 1

DEGREE OF ENTANGLEMENT FOR QUANTUM STATES

Hui Zhao, Zhi‐Xi Wang

A measure to quantify the degree of entanglement for two qubits (2×2) in a pure state is presented in Phys. Rev.A65, 044303 (2002). We generalize their results to 2×n quantum systems. An analytical expression of the entanglement of formation for quantum mixed states of 2×n quantum systems is obtained. Moreover for multipartite quantum systems a generalized "measure" is presented to judge if a pure state is separable or maximally entangled.

Are all maximally entangled states pure?

Daniel Cavalcanti, Fernando G. S. L. Brandão, Marcelo Terra Cunha

We study if all maximally entangled states are pure through several entanglement monotones. In the bipartite case, we find that the same conditions which lead to the uniqueness of the entropy of entanglement as a measure of entanglement exclude the existence of maximally mixed entangled states. In the multipartite scenario, our conclusions allow us to generalize the idea of the monogamy of entanglement: we establish the polygamy of entanglement, expressing that if a general state is maximally entangled with respect to some kind of multipartite entanglement, then it is necessarily factorized of any other system.

Partial coherence versus entanglement

Sunho Kim, Chunhe Xiong, Shunlong Luo +2 more

We study partial coherence and its connection with entanglement. First, we provide a sufficient and necessary condition for bipartite pure-state transformation under partially incoherent operations: A bipartite pure state can be transformed to another one if and only if a majorization relationship holds between their partial coherence vectors. As a consequence, we introduce the concept of maximal partial coherent states in the sense that they can be used to construct any bipartite state of the same system via partial incoherent operations. Second, we provide a strategy to construct measures of partial coherence by use of symmetric concave functions. Third, we establish the relationship between partial coherence and entanglement. We show that the minimal partial coherence under local unitary transformations is also a measure of entanglement for bipartite pure states, which can be extended to all mixed states by convex-roof extension. Conversely, every entanglement measure can be constructed as a partial coherence measure, and we further show that partial coherence measures are induced through maximal entanglement under partially incoherent operations for bipartite pure states.
