Asymptotically good quantum codes exceeding the Ashikhmin-Litsyn-Tsfasman bound

Abstract

It is known that quantum error correction can be achieved using classical binary codes or additive codes over F/sub 4/. Asymptotically good quantum codes have been constructed from algebraic-geometry codes and a bound on (/spl delta/, R) was computed from the Tsfasman-Vladut-Zink bound of the theory of classical algebraic-geometry codes. In this correspondence, by the use of a concatenation technique we construct a family of asymptotically good quantum codes exceeding the bound in a small interval.

Some classes of concatenated quantum codes: constructions and lower bounds

Hachiro Fujita

In classical coding theory code concatenation is successfully used to construct good errorcorrecting codes and most of the asymptotically good codes known so far are based on concatenation. In this paper we present some classes of asymptotically good concatenated quantum codes, which are a quantum analogue of classical concatenated codes, and derive lower bounds on the minimum distance and the rate of the codes. Our bounds improve on the best lower bound of Ashikhmin–Litsyn–Tsfasman and Matsumoto for rates smaller than about one half. We also give a polynomial-time decoding algorithm for the codes that can decode up to one fourth of the lower bound on the minimum distance of the codes.

Some good quantum error-correcting codes from algebraic-geometric codes

Hao Chen

It is shown that quantum error correction can be achieved by the use of classical binary codes or additive codes over F/sub 4/. In this correspondence, with the help of some algebraic techniques the theory of algebraic-geometric codes is used to construct an asymptotically good family of quantum error-correcting codes and other classes of good quantum error-correcting codes. Our results are compared with the known best quantum codes.

Several Classes of Concatenated Quantum Codes: Constructions and Bounds

Hachiro Fujita

In this paper we present several classes of asymptotically good concatenated quantum codes and derive lower bounds on the minimum distance and rate of the codes. We compare these bounds with the best-known bound of Ashikhmin--Litsyn--Tsfasman and Matsumoto. We also give a polynomial-time decoding algorithm for the codes that can decode up to one fourth of the lower bound on the minimum distance of the codes.

A family of asymptotically good quantum codes based on code concatenation

Zhuo Li, Lijuan Xing, 西安电子科技大学综合业务网国家重点实验室,西安 710071

Using the idea of code concatenation in classical coding theory, we make the suggestion of constructing general concatenated quantum codes by choosing certain quantum codes as outer code and inner code. Then by concatenating quantum RS outer codes with a set of special quantum inner codes, one can construct a family of concatenated quantum codes, which is asymptotically good. In the field of quantum error-correcting codes, this is the first time that a family of asymptotically good quantum code is constructed using bad classical codes.
