Abstract

A quantum Bose–Chadhuri–Hocquenghem (BCH) code is constructed over Fnpm in the spectrum domain by employing Fourier transform. The constructed code may be employed to describe the characters of the quantum code over Fnp in the time domain. Each quantum state of the proposed code has certain specified consecutive spectral components equalling zeros, and the error-correcting ability of the code can hence be determined by the number of consecutive zeros in its parity spectrums. Moreover, the decoding process may be performed more efficiently by using the spectrum techniques rather than by using the traditional methods.

Quantum BCH Codes Based on Spectral Techniques

Guo Ying, Zeng Gui-Hua

When the time variable in quantum signal processing is discrete, the Fourier transform exists on the vector space of n -tuples over the Galois field F 2 , which plays an important role in the investigation of quantum signals. By using Fourier transforms, the idea of quantum coding theory can be described in a setting that is much different from that seen that far. Quantum BCH codes can be defined as codes whose quantum states have certain specified consecutive spectral components equal to zero and the error-correcting ability is also described by the number of the consecutive zeros. Moreover, the decoding of quantum codes can be described spectrally with more efficiency.

Some New Quantum BCH Codes over Finite Fields

Lijuan Xing, Zhuo Li

Quantum error correcting codes (QECCs) play an important role in preventing quantum information decoherence. Good quantum stabilizer codes were constructed by classical error correcting codes. In this paper, Bose-Chaudhuri-Hocquenghem (BCH) codes over finite fields are used to construct quantum codes. First, we try to find such classical BCH codes, which contain their dual codes, by studying the suitable cyclotomic cosets. Then, we construct nonbinary quantum BCH codes with given parameter sets. Finally, a new family of quantum BCH codes can be realized by Steane's enlargement of nonbinary Calderbank-Shor-Steane (CSS) construction and Hermitian construction. We have proven that the cyclotomic cosets are good tools to study quantum BCH codes. The defining sets contain the highest numbers of consecutive integers. Compared with the results in the references, the new quantum BCH codes have better code parameters without restrictions and better lower bounds on minimum distances. What is more, the new quantum codes can be constructed over any finite fields, which enlarges the range of quantum BCH codes.

Construction of Some New Quantum BCH Codes

Ming Zhang, Zhuo Li, Lijuan Xing +1 more

Classical Bose-Chaudhuri-Hocquenghem (BCH) codes over finite fields have been studied extensively. One can construct quantum stabilizer codes with good parameters using classical BCH codes. In this paper, our goal is to find such classical BCH codes. We study some properties of suitable cyclotomic cosets at first. These results make it possible to construct nonbinary quantum BCH codes with a given parameter set. Several new families of quantum BCH codes obtained are based on Steane's enlargement of nonbinary Calderbank-Shor-Steane codes and Hermitian construction, respectively. Meanwhile, we have shown that the cyclotomic cosets given in our schemes are optimal to design quantum BCH codes. The defining set contains most consecutive integers. Therefore, corresponding quantum stabilizer codes have better lower bound of minimum distance. Furthermore, it is convenient to compute the dimension of new quantum codes. Compared with the ones available in the literature, the quantum BCH codes in our schemes have good parameters. In particular, we extend known results to more general case.

On Quantum Bch Codes And Its Duals

Jaskarn Singh Bhullar, Manish K. Gupta

Classical Bose-Chaudhuri-Hocquenghem (BCH) codes C that contain their dual codes can be used to construct quantum stabilizer codes this chapter studies the properties of such codes. It had been shown that a BCH code of length n which contains its dual code satisfies the bound on weight of any non-zero codeword in C and converse is also true. One impressive difficulty in quantum communication and computation is to protect informationcarrying quantum states against undesired interactions with the environment. To address this difficulty, many good quantum errorcorrecting codes have been derived as binary stabilizer codes. We were able to shed more light on the structure of dual containing BCH codes. These results make it possible to determine the parameters of quantum BCH codes in terms of weight of non-zero dual codeword.

Asymmetric Quantum Codes: New Codes from Old

Giuliano G. La Guardia

In this paper we extend to asymmetric quantum error-correcting codes (AQECC) the construction methods, namely: puncturing, extending, expanding, direct sum and the (u|u + v) construction. By applying these methods, several families of asymmetric quantum codes can be constructed. Consequently, as an example of application of quantum code expansion developed here, new families of asymmetric quantum codes derived from generalized Reed-Muller (GRM) codes, quadratic residue (QR), Bose-Chaudhuri-Hocquenghem (BCH), character codes and affine-invariant codes are constructed.

1 On the Construction of Nonbinary Quantum BCH Codes

Giuliano G. La Guardia

Four quantum code constructions generating several new families of good nonbinary quantum nonprimitive nonnarrow-sense, Bose-Chaudhuri-Hocquenghem codes, are presented in this paper. The first two are based on Calderbank-Shor-Steane (CSS) construction derived from two nonprimitive Bose-Chaudhuri-Hocquenghem codes. The third one is based on Steane's enlargement of nonbinary CSS codes applied to suitable subfamilies of nonprimitive nonnarrow-sense Bose-Chaudhuri-Hocquenghem codes. The fourth construction is derived from suitable subfamilies of Hermitian dual-containing nonprimitive nonnarrow-sense Bose-Chaudhuri-Hocquenghem codes. These constructions generate new families of quantum codes whose parameters are better than the ones available in the literature.
