DYSON'S BOSON EXPANSION AND THE INTERACTING BOSON MODEL

Zhan-Ying Yang, Sen Y

Based on the so-called modified Jancovici-Schiff (MJS) substitution the interacting boson model (IBM) is treated as an approximation to the boson description adopted in the intermediate stage of a fermion description of nuclei. A unitary transformation is introduced to determine microscopically the IBM bosons and the IBM Hamiltonian. A general formula is given to transform the IBM state vectors back into the fermion state space.

Quantum fast-forwarding fermion-boson interactions via the polaron transform

Harriet Apel, Burak Şahinoğlu

Simulating interactions between fermions and bosons is central to understanding correlated phenomena, yet these systems are inherently difficult to treat classically. Previous quantum algorithms for fermion-boson models exhibit computation costs that scale polynomially with the bosonic truncation parameter, $Λ$. In this work we identify the efficient unitary transformation enabling fast-forwarded evolution of the fermion-boson interaction term, yielding an interaction-picture based simulation algorithm with complexity polylogarithmic in $Λ$. We apply this transformation to explicitly construct an efficient quantum algorithm for the Hubbard-Holstein model and discuss its generalisation to other fermion-boson interacting models. This approach yields an important asymptotic improvement in the dependence on the bosonic cutoff and establishes that, for certain models, fermion-boson interactions can be simulated with resources comparable to those required for purely fermionic systems.

Microscopic foundation of the interacting boson model

Cheng-Li Wu, D.H. Feng, Jin-Quan Chen +1 more

An effective boson Hamiltonian is derived from the original Hamiltonian of a many-fermion system. The results show that when the intrinsic motion of bosons is collective and the excitation energies of the system are small, the effective boson-boson interaction can be reduced to a two-body interaction while for odd systems or systems with uncorrelated fermions, there is an additional two-body boson-fermion interaction. Both these interactions can be calculated from the original fermion-fermion ones. Thus, the microscopic foundation of the interacting boson model is established without recourse to mapping procedures.NUCLEAR STRUCTURE Interacting boson model, boson fermion hybrid representation, microscopic foundation.

Ground state of 1D bosons with delta interaction: link to the BCS model

Murray T. Batchelor, Xi-Wen Guan, James McGuire

The Bethe roots describing the ground-state energy of the integrable one-dimensional (1D) model of interacting bosons with weakly repulsive two-body delta interactions are seen to satisfy the set of Richardson equations appearing in the strong coupling limit of an integrable BCS pairing model. The BCS model describes boson–boson interactions with zero centre of mass momentum of pairs. It follows that the Bethe roots of the weakly interacting boson model are given by the zeros of Laguerre polynomials. The ground-state energy and the lowest excitation are obtained explicitly via the Bethe roots. A direct link has thus been established, in the context of integrable 1D models, between bosons interacting via weakly repulsive two-body delta interactions and strongly interacting BCS boson pairs.
