Higher-Order Calculations for Weakly Random System in 1/n Expansion

Abstract

In the scheme of 1/n expansion the effects of weak randomness on critical exponents are investigated. By extending the lowest-order argument of Abe, the higher-order terms of the O(a3) and of the O(1/n) are studied(a being a measure of the randomness). Though each diagram constituting higher-order terms shows the logarithmic dependence, which has the possibility of modifying critical exponents, they are canceled out when summed up. It is concluded that random impurities are irrelevant to critical exponents.

1/ n Expansion for Weakly Random System with Impurity Correlation

Kentaro Yamamoto, R. Abe

Critical behavior of weakly random system with a specific impurity correlation is studied by means of 1/ n expansion. The correlation function and the equation of state are derived up to order a2 (a being a measure of randomness) in the limit n →∞. Critical exponents η, β and γ are calculated up to this order. It is shown that these exponents are nonuniversal but satisfy a scaling law relation.

Logarithmic corrections in the two-dimensional Ising model in a random surface field

Michel Pleimling, Farkas Adam Bagaméry, Loïc Turban +1 more

In the two-dimensional Ising model weak random surface field is predicted to be a marginally irrelevant perturbation at the critical point. We study this question by extensive Monte Carlo simulations for various strength of disorder. The calculated effective (temperature or size dependent) critical exponents fit with the field-theoretical results and can be interpreted in terms of the predicted logarithmic corrections to the pure system's critical behaviour.

Critical exponents for a three-dimensional impure Ising model in the five-loop approximation

D. V. Pakhnin, Aleksandr Ivanovich Sokolov

The renormalization-group functions governing the critical behavior of the three-dimensional weakly-disordered Ising model are calculated in the five-loop approximation. The random fixed point location and critical exponents for impure Ising systems are estimated by means of the Padé-Borel-Leroy resummation of the renormalization-group expansions derived. The asymptotic critical exponents are found to be γ=1.325 ± 0.003, η=0.025 ± 0.01, ν= 0.671 ± 0.005, α=−0.0125 ± 0.008, β=0.344 ± 0.006, while for the correction-to-scaling exponent, a less accurate estimate ω=0.32 ± 0.06 is obtained.

Higher-order corrections to the ε12 expansion of the critical behavior of the random Ising system

Ciriyam Jayaprakash, H. Jeffrey Katz

The stability of the random fixed point of the disordered Ising system is investigated within the framework of Callan-Symanzik equations and renormalized perturbation theory. The critical exponents are obtained to one higher order, for example, $\ensuremath{\nu}=\frac{1}{2}+\frac{1}{4}{(\frac{6}{53}\ensuremath{\epsilon})}^{\frac{1}{2}}+\frac{1}{4}\left(\frac{535\ensuremath{-}765\ensuremath{\xi}(3)}{5618}\right)\ensuremath{\epsilon}$

Short-Time Critical Behavior of Systems with Random Impurities

Y. Chen, Shuo-Hong Guo, Zhibing Li

The theoretical renormalization-group approach is applied to the study of the short-time critical behavior of the Ginzburg-Landau model with long-range random impurities which have a power-like correlation r—(d—ρ. The system initially at a high temperature is firstly quenched to the critical temperature Tc and then released to an evolution with a model A dynamics. The asymptotic scaling laws are studied in the frame of a double expansion in ϵ = 4 — d and δ = ϵ + ρ with δ of the order of ϵ. The initial slip exponent θ′ for the order parameter is calculated up to the first order in ϵ = 4 — d or in ϵ1/2 corresponding to different fixed points, respectively. For d > 4, the short-time behavior of the order parameter is investigated in one loop. Two different logarithmic and exponential-logarithmic corrections to short-time behaviors of both the autocorrelation and the order parameter are also solved in d = 4 dimension. Crossover between the nonrandom behavior and quenched behavior is found for n = 4 (where n is the spin dimensionality) in d = 4 dimension.

Effect of randomness on critical behavior of spin models

T. C. Lubensky, Amanda Harris

Renormalization group methods are used to analyze the critical behavior of random Ising models. The Wilson‐Fischer ε‐expansion for the recursion relations for n‐component continuous spin models are developed for randomly inhomogeneous systems. In addition to the usual variables for a homogeneous system there appears a variable which in essence describes local fluctuations in Tc. From the structure and stability of the fixed points we conclude that critical exponents are unaffected by randomness for n≳4 but are renormalized by randomness for 1<n<4. In both cases α<0, as expected from a simple physical argument.
