Macroscopic Quantum Effects in Biophysics and Consciousness

Abstract

Abstract. It is shown that investigations in the field of microwave resonance stimulation of the acupuncture system, as well as investigations of the interactions of consciousness with microscopic and macroscopic environment- imply the existence of local and nonlocal macroscopic quantum biophysical effects, with great potential implications in medicine, psychology, biology, physics, engineering, and philosophy/religion. The parallels between classical and quantum Hopfield-like neural networks were also emphasized, as well as biophysical quantum-relativistic model of altered and transitional states of consciousness, the roots of relative metatheory of consciousness in the quantum decoherence theory, and anthropic "coincidences " in classical and quantum cosmology.

Hopfield-like quantum associative neural networks and (quantum) holistic psychosomatic implications

Dejan I. Raković

It is shown that any quantum system has a formal dynamical structure of Hopfield-like associative neural network. Besides, it is pointed out that investigations in the field of microwave resonance therapy of the acupuncture system, as well as research of the interactions of consciousness with microscopic and macroscopic environment, imply the existence of local and nonlocal macroscopic biophysical affects, with tremendous potential implications in the fields of medicine, psychology, biology, physics, engineering, and philosophy/religion.

Quantum Decoherence and Quantum-Holographic Information Processes: From Biomolecules to Biosystems

Dejan I. Raković, M. Dugić, M.B. Plavšić +3 more

Our recently proposed quantum approach to biomolecular recognition processes is hereby additionally supported by biomolecular Resonant Recognition Model and by quantum-chemical theory of biomolecular non-radiative resonant transitions. Previously developed general quantumdecoherence framework for biopolymer conformational changes in very selective ligandproteins/ target-receptors key/lock biomolecular recognition processes (with electron-conformational coupling, giving rise to dynamical modification of many-electron energy-state hypersurface of the cellular quantum-ensemble ligand-proteins/target-receptors biomolecular macroscopic quantum system, with revealed possibility to consider cellular biomolecular recognition as a Hopfield-like quantum-holographic associative neural network) is further extended from nonlocal macroscopicquantum level of biological cell to nonlocal macroscopic-quantum level of biological organism, based on long-range coherent microwave excitations (as supported by macroscopic quantum-like microwave resonance therapy of the acupuncture system) - which might be of fundamental importance in understanding of underlying macroscopic quantum (quantum-holographic Hopfieldlike) control mechanisms of embryogenesis/ontogenesis and morphogenesis, and their backward influence on the expression of genes.

Quantum-informational bases and frontiers of psychosomatic integrative medicine

Dejan I. Raković

The subject of this paper are quantum-informational bases and frontiers of psychosomatic integrative medicine, oriented to the healing of person as a whole and not diseases as symptoms of disorders of this wholeness, implying their macroscopic quantum origin. In the focus of the related quantum-holistic methods are acupuncture system and consciousness - which as macroscopic quantum biosystems have (fundamental!) quantum-informational structure of Hopfield-like holographic neural network, within the Feynman propagator version of quantum mechanics. In this context, all acupuncture-based and consciousness-based approaches and techniques can be essentially considered as quantum-informational therapies, via bioresonant imposing of new boundary conditions in the energy-state space of the acupuncture system/ consciousness, with downward quantum-holographic biofeedback influence on the cells conformational protein changes and genes expression. This might provide fundamental quantum-informational framework for better understanding of the nature of psychosomatic diseases as well as limitations of the healing methods, which might help in developing strategies for integrative medicine.

Quantum-Informational Macrophenomena in Biomedicine & Holistic Psychosomatics: Quantum-Holographic Framework

Dejan I. Raković

The Hopfield-like quantum-holographic framework for macroscopic quantum phenomena in biomolecular folding, integrative medicine, transpersonal psychology, and holistic psychosomatics is outlined. This might have significant implications for better understanding of quantumholographic feedback control mechanisms of morphogenesis, and healing boundary conditions in acupuncture-based and consciousness-based holistic psychosomatics.

Evidence of Macroscopic Quantum Phenomena and Conscious Reality Selection

Cynthia Sue Larson

The purpose of this paper is to present an overview of emergent examples of macroscopic quantum phenomena. While quantum theory asserts that such quantum behaviors as superposition, entanglement, and coherence are possible for all objects, assumptions that quantum processes operate exclusively within the quantum realm have contributed to on-going bias toward presumed primacy of classical physics in the macroscopic realm. Non-trivial quantum macroscopic effects are now recognized in the fields of biology, quantum physics, quantum computing, quantum astronomy, and neuroscience, with implications for medicine, psychology and sociology. Robust examples of macroscopic quantum coherence and entanglement contain unmistakable biological advantages, such as are observed in the green sulphur bacteria photosynthesis transfer mechanism, and in the navigational system of the European Robin. Macroscopic quantum processes in the form of an olfactory electron tunneling mechanism best account for the otherwise inexplicable difference observed in the odor of identically-shaped molecules. Evidence of reverse-direction causality is apparent in experiments with large numbers of photons and human subjects. Entanglement, retrocausality, and superposition of states are suggested as causal factors to account for increases in efficacy of the placebo effect. Alternate histories of "flashbulb memories" and embodied cognition are considered as possible examples of superposition of states in a holographic multiverse in which the many worlds of the multiverse and the many worlds of quantum mechanics might just be one and the same thing.

On a Physical Metatheory of Consciousness

M. Dugić, Dejan I. Raković, Milan M. Ćirković

We show that the modern quantum mechanics, and particularly the theory of decoherence, allows for formulating a sort of a physical metatheory of consciousness. Particularly, the analysis of the necessary conditions for the occurrence of decoherence, along with the hypothesis that consciousness bears (more-or-less) well definable physical origin, leads to a wider physical picture naturally involving consciousness. This can be considered as a sort of a psycho-physical parallelism, but on rather wide scales bearing some cosmological relevance.
