The SU(2) realization for the Morse potential and its coherent states

Abstract

A realization of the raising and lowering operators for the Morse potential is presented. We show that these operators satisfy the commutation relations for the SU(2) group. Closed analytical expressions are derived for the matrix elements of different functions such as 1/y and d/dy. The harmonic limit of the SU(2) operators is also studied. The transition probability between two eigenstates produced by a harmonic perturbation as a function of the operators [Formula: see text]±,0 is discussed. The average values of some observables in the coherent states |α > for the Morse potential are also calculated. PACS Nos.: 02.30+b, 03.65Fd, 42.50Ar, and 33.10Cs

Algebraic Approach to the Morse Potential and its Coherent States

Shi‐Hai Dong

A realization of the ladder operators for the 1D Morse potential is presented. These operators satisfy the SU(2) group. The case of anisotropic 3D Morse potential is also discussed if it can be regarded as three 1D Morse potential. The average values of some observables in the coherent states are also calculated.

Eigenstates, coherent states, and uncertainty products for the Morse oscillator

Michael Martin Nieto, L. M. Simmons

We obtain the exact, normalized, closed-form eigenfunctions for the one-dimensional Morse oscillator, as well as the raising and lowering operators. We next review a new method for obtaining the coherent states for arbitrary potentials, it being based on the classical motion of a particle. We apply this method to the Morse oscillator. After demonstrating that in the appropriate limit our results reduce to those for the harmonic oscillator, we obtain analytic insights into published numerical results on uncertainty products for Morse-oscillator wave packets.

A realization of the dynamical group for the square-well potential and its coherent states

R. Lemus, Alejandro Frank

A realization of the ladder operators for the infinitely deep well potential is presented. Both the asymmetric and symmetric wells are discussed. It is shown that these operators satisfy the commutation relations for the SU (1, 1) group. Closed analytical expressions for the matrix elements of some relevant functions are obtained. Perelomov coherent states for this system are explicitly constructed. The behaviour of the dispersion relation and the time evolution for such states are examined.

Parameter Space of Morse Oscillator

M Y Tan, M. S. Nurisya, H. Zainuddin

We present the analysis of mathematical structure of SU(2) group, specifically the commutation relation between raising and lowering operators of the Morse oscillator. The relationship between the commutator of operators and other parameters of Morse oscillator is investigated. We show that the mathematical structure of operators which depends on the parameters of Morse oscillator may change our conventional expectation. The parameter space of Morse oscillator is visualized to scrutinize the mathematical relations that are related to the Morse oscillator. This parameter space is the space of possible parameter values that depend on the depth of the Morse potential well and other parameters. The algorithm that we present is also applicable to other quantum systems with certain modifications.

We transform the Lagrangian of the Morse-potential problem into two harmonic oscillators in a new parametric time and quantize this system by using path integrals over holomorphic coordinates of oscillators and derive coherent states. PACS Nos.: 31.15-p, 03.65Ca, 03.65Ge
