Abstract

Classic encryption methods used in our life based on mathematical ideas are unsafe actually, so quantum encryption is proposed nowadays. Although quantum encryption is the unique method to protect datas and data transmission in theory, more processes are required during the production of quantum key to the achievement of encryption and decryption. Firstly, basic quantum key distribution protocol process is introduced in this paper. Secondly, several improvements to the basic steps of two references are reviewed because of its defects, mainly about identity authentication in order to prevent communication partners` counterfei, including errors removing, estimating Eve`s information, secrecy enhancement, etc. At last, based upon original improvements reserved selectively, the whole process of quantum key distribution protocol after improvement is introduced in detail.

A new secure model for quantum key distribution protocol

Rishi Dutt Sharma, Асок Де

All Classical cryptographic methods used in our life based on mathematical ideas & computational assumption are actually unsafe, so quantum cryptography is proposed nowadays Quantum key distribution (QKD) promises secure key agreement by using quantum mechanical systems. QKD will be an important part of future cryptographic infrastructures. It can provide long-term confidentiality for encrypted information without reliance on computational assumptions. Although QKD still requires authentication to prevent man-in-the-middle attacks. Firstly, In this paper At quantum key distribution protocol process is introduced. Secondly, several improvements to the basic steps of two references are reviewed because of its defects, mainly about identity authentication in order to prevent communication partners' counterfeit, including errors removing, estimating Attacker's information, secrecy enhancement, etc. At last, based upon original improvements reserved selectively, the whole process of quantum key distribution protocol after improvement & then comparison is introduced in detail.

A Review on Quantum Cryptography Technology

Piya Techateerawat

Nowadays, the information is exchanged among the computer network. These data and information are involved in business, military, academic education, research and etc. which are shared around the world in both private and public network. Since, many categories of data are required restriction on authorization of access, modify, delete and insert, security in communication is increasingly important to the network communication. Currently, computer security applies mathematic theory to computer security for encrypting and decrypting on both sender and receiver. To use security attack with high performance computer (e.g. quantum computer), attacker can find a key and then obtains the data in feasible period. Quantum cryptography is one of the solutions that use property of polarization to ensure that transmitted data is not trapped by eavesdropper. Quantum cryptography is improved significantly in the last decades including the most two dominant protocol BB84 and BB92.

Quantum Key Distribution for Secure Communications

Mahira Najeeb, Ammar Masood, Adnan Fazil

Data protection and information security have been the essence of communication in today's digital era. Authentication and secrecy of secure communication are achieved using key-based cryptographic primitives; the security of which significantly relies upon the underlying computationally complex mathematics. Moreover, these existing cryptographic primitives are considered to be non-deterministic on the basis of the existing computational capabilities. However, the considerable advancements in the development of quantum computers have significantly enhanced parallel computations; thereby, posing a great threat to these existing encryption primitives. Thus, in the future, the physical manifestation of a large successful quantum computer is likely to break all the existing public-key encryption algorithms in no time. This has led to a remarkable surge of interest in propelling quantum mechanics into existence; subsequently, leading cryptographers to research various viable domains to offer quantum-resistant secure communications. Resultantly, quantum cryptography/quantum key distribution has emerged as a futuristic replacement for classical cryptography as it offers unconditionally secure communication along with the inherent detection of any unintended user. Thus, keeping in view the significance of this relatively newer domain of cryptography, this research focuses on presenting a consolidated review of the various Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) protocols. A comparative analysis of the working mechanism of the prominent QKD protocols is presented along with an overview of the various emerging trends that have been proposed to optimize the implementational efficiency of the BB84 protocol.

QUANTUM KEY DISTRIBUTION SCHEME: AN IMPROVEMENT BASED ON BB84 PROTOCOL

Kausik Saha

Cryptography is being introduced to secure data. Through Classical Cryptographic technique, we can encrypt our data and secure secret key also. But classical cryptography is based on mathematical techniques where reversing one-way function is possible with sufficient computing power and time. So, Quantum Cryptography is introduced to overcome those drawbacks of traditional classical cryptography. It is based on the values of quantum mechanics and photon. Scientists and researchers have brought up a new key distribution protocol based on Quantum Cryptography is called Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) Protocol. The first QKD protocol BB84 was introduced by Charles Bennett and Gilles Brassard in 1984. After that several QKD protocols have been created. In this paper we have improved BB84 Protocol by removing the drawbacks of the existing algorithm towards Eavesdropping which may not be detected or disclosing large portion of secret key. Steps of the existing BB84 algorithm along with the modified one is described in detail with example and pseudo code. Limitations of BB84 and comparative study of both the existing and the improved one based on their security has been made and described in this current work.

Application of Quantum Key Distribution

Joseph Russell

Quantum key distribution is an innovative technique to distribute encryption keys without compromise. This paper focuses on the application of this technique to achieve reliable communication in an ever-evolving and increasingly vulnerable environment. Designers of cryptosystems have three basic objectives; designing cryptographic algorithms that adequately scramble the target data, developing strong encryption keys to lock and unlock the algorithm, and securely distributing the keys between communicating devices. The advance of quantum computing technologies threatens to expose the world's most prolific key method overnight. Though quantum computing is not yet a reality, the basic principles have been proven in laboratories. Furthermore, quantum computing has been shown to be especially suited for computations of complex mathematic equations; such as distilling the private keys from the public keys used in public key infrastructures (PKI). In this environment, it's comforting to know that the most advanced technology in the broad field of quantum communications just happens to be a new method of creating and distributing encryption keys. This technology is referred to as quantum key distribution (QKD). QKD technologies shift the current paradigm on two plains. The first is that it uses quantum principles, rather than conventional means, for distributing keys between devices. The quantum principles guarantee the key can not be intercepted during transmission without alerting the users of a compromise. The second shift is derived from the fact that encrypted data can not be intercepted today and decrypted at a later date when the computing power exists to crack the code. This shift is dependant on the use of a combination of QKD and one-time pad. Because of the quantum principles that QKD relies on, when a key is successfully created and shared, it can not be cracked using intercepted data. The keys are derived from a convergence of random operations conducted at the sender and receiver stations. Indeed, neither the sender nor the receiver can determine what the key will be until the entire process is completed. As a piece of our security infrastructure, QKD significantly raises our security posture. This paper explains the application of quantum principals used to enable QKD systems.

Quantum Cryptography: Enhancing Security in Quantum Computing Environments

Saurabh Bhattacharya

When it comes to protecting data, quantum security is a huge step forward, especially in settings with quantum computers. The development of quantum technologies makes standard encryption methods more open to attacks from quantum computers that can use their computing power to break common encryption protocols. This essay looks into the basic ideas of quantum cryptography, with a focus on Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) as a key part of safe communication. Quantum key distribution (QKD) uses quantum physics ideas like superposition and entanglement to help two people make a shared secret key that can't be hacked. The paper talks about different QKD methods, like BB84 and E91, and looks at how they work and what security promises they offer. We look at the problems that come up with real-world uses, like flawed devices and influence from the surroundings, which can affect how accurate quantum states are.
