Analytical Solutions of Two-Dimensional Schrödinger Equation

Vladimír Tichý

The goal of the dissertation is to find new method of solving two-dimensional Schrödinger equation in such cases, when the separation of the variables is not applicable. The results are applied to the two-dimensional Schrödinger equation with the potentials of the form of the quartic polynomial, of the sextic polynomial and of the quartic Morse potential. For these cases, the analytical formulae for the ground state wave functions and the corresponding energies have been found. For the specific class of the potentials of the form of the quartic polynomial, analytical formula for one of the excited states and for the corresponding energy have been found.

Analytic Energies and Wave Functions of Two-Dimensional Schrödinger Equation: Two-Dimensional Fourth-Order Polynomial Potential

Vladimír Tichý, Lubomír Skála

Direct method for searching analytic solutions of the two-dimensional Schrödinger equation with a two-dimensional fourth-order polynomial potential is presented. Analytic formulas for the energies and wave functions of the ground state and excited state are found. Obtained results can not be in general reduced to two one-dimensional cases.

Solution of Schrödinger Equation for Two-Dimensional Complex Quartic Potentials

Ram Mehar Singh, Fakir Chand, Shubham Mishra

We investigate the quasi-exact solutions of the Schr?dinger wave equation for two-dimensional non-hermitian complex Hamiltonian systems within the frame work of an extended complex phase space characterized by x = x1 + ip3, y = x2 + ip4, px = p1 + ix3, py = p2 + ix4. Explicit expressions of the energy eigenvalues and the eigenfunctions for ground and first excited states for a complex quartic potential are obtained. Eigenvalue spectra of some variants of the complex quartic potential, including PT-symmetric one, are also worked out.

Solutions of the Schrödinger Equation for -Symmetric Coupled Quintic Potentials in Two Dimensions

Fakir Chand

This paper deals with the solutions of time independent Schrödinger wave equation for a two-dimensional -symmetric coupled quintic potential in its most general form. Employing wavefunction ansatz method, general analytic expressions for eigenvalues and eigenfunctions for first four states are obtained. Solutions of a particular case are also presented.

Analysis of Quartic Potential Problems Using Fredholm Integral Operators with Airy Functions

Ori J. Ganor

Fredholm integral operators that commute with the Hamiltonians of certain quantum mechanical systems with quartic potentials are introduced in closed analytical form. The operators are expressed in terms of the Airy function, and their eigenvalues fall off exponentially. Using these operators we obtain an exact dual description in terms of infinite one-dimensional chains. The systems discussed include the anharmonic quartic oscillator as well as multivariable potentials and higher dimensional systems. We compute a few moments of the Fredholm operators, using matrix models in the higher dimensional case, and we show how those can be used to approximate the energy spectrum and obtain estimates of the asymptotic behavior of the wavefunctions.

On a solution method for the bound energy states of a particle in a one-dimensional symmetric finite square well potential

Orion Ciftja, Brett Johnston

Abstract We present details of a new solution method for the bound energy states of a quantum particle in a one-dimensional symmetric finite square well potential. The solution is obtained in a clear way by introducing a simple method that relies on the use of two auxiliary functions. The approach is straightforward and leads to the well-known even and odd parity wave function solutions of the problem without having to do any a priori assumptions about the nature or symmetry of the quantum states.
