Generation of Four-Photon Coherent State via Degenerate Raman Interaction

Abstract

A scheme is presented for generating a four-photon coherent state via the degenerate Raman interaction. The scheme does not need classical fields to manipulate the atoms. Its another advantage is that the atomic spontaneous emission can be neglected. Therefore, the coherence of the system may be better maintained. The scheme can be generalized to generate superposition of 2 n coherent states and superposition of 2 n two-mode coherent states. The coherent states in each mode are on a circle symmetrically.

Generation of Superpositions of Atomic Coherent States Through Raman Atom-Field Interaction

Zheng Shi-Biao

We propose a scheme for the generation of superpositions of collective atomic coherent states. In the scheme a collection of degenerate -type three-level atoms is confined in a high- cavity and interacts with the cavity field in a Raman manner. Then a state reduction on the field collapses the atomic system onto a superposition state.

Generation of Superpositions of Coherent States Along a Straight Line via Raman Interaction

Zhen‐Biao Yang

We present an alternative scheme for preparing the superpositions of coherent states along a straight line of a cavity field using degenerate atom-cavity field Raman interaction. In the scheme, a collection of Λ-type three-level atoms is orderly sent through the cavity to interact with the cavity field adjusted by a microwave source connected to it, followed by state-selective measurements. In this way, we can prepare the superpositions of several coherent states along a straight line with arbitrary weighting factors for the cavity field. In the scheme, the coherence of the atom-cavity system may be maintained and the second microwave field is unnecessary, which is prior to the previous scheme.

Generation of W-type Entangled Coherent States of Three-cavity Field by Raman Interaction

Ma Song-She

A scheme was proposed to generate the W-type entangled coherent states of three-cavity fields, after comparing the differences between the discrete-variable quantum information and the continuous-variable quantum information and taking into account that coherent states were presently of practical use and readily available. The scheme was based on the degenerate Raman interaction of a Λ-type three-level atom with a single-mode field. Three identical cavities were in coherent states and three identical atoms shared a W-type entangled state initially. Let the three atoms interact with the three cavity fields respectively, selected a proper interaction time and detected the three atoms after exiting from their respective cavity. Then the three-cavity fields were projected onto a W-type entangled coherent states. During the atom-field interaction the atoms have no probability of being populated in the upper level, then the atomic spontaneous emissions could be neglected. Therefore, the coherence of the system might be better maintained. Based on current cavity quantum electrodynamics technique, the scheme could be realized experimentally. The W-type entangled coherent states generated was expected to be useful in the continuous-variable quantum information processing. The scheme was generalized to prepare the W-type entangled coherent states of n-cavity fields (n〉3).

A Scheme for Teleportation of an Unknown Entangled Coherent State via Raman Interaction

Chen Mei-Feng, Ma Song-She

A scheme is reported for the teleportation of entangled coherent states through the degenerate Raman interaction. The scheme uses an entangled state of an atom and two coherent states as a quantum channel. It makes full use of coherent cavity fields. Furthermore, it does not need any classical field to transform the atom states.

Preparation of Highly Squeezed States and Multi-component Entangled Coherent States via the Raman Interaction

Zheng Shi-Biao

A method is presented for generating highly squeezed states of a cavity field via the atom-cavity field interaction of the Raman type. In the scheme a sequence of three-level -type atoms interacts with a cavity field, displaced by a classical source, in a Raman manner. Then the atomic states are measured. By this way the cavity field may collapse onto a superposition of several coherent states, which exhibits strong squeezing. The scheme can also be used to prepare superpositions of many two-mode coherent states for two cavity fields. The coherent states in each mode are on a straight line. This is the first way for preparing multi-component entangled coherent states of this type in cavity QED.

Generation of superposed phase states via Raman interaction

Ardiley Torres Avelar, L A de Souza, T. M. Rocha Filho +1 more

A recent proposal producing superpositions of two truncated phase states in a high- Q microwave cavity has been presented. The scheme was based on dispersive interactions of two-level Rydberg atoms with a single mode field inside a cavity. Here we consider a simplified scheme doing the same, via Raman interaction of the field with degenerate three-level atoms. The extension to 2 K phase states components ( K >1) is discussed.
