Investigation of quantum and classical correlations in a quantum dot system under decoherence

K. Berrada

In this paper, we investigate quantitatively the thermal classical and quantum correlations in an isolated quantum dot system (QDS) including the effects of different parameters. We show that the quantum discord (QD) is more resistant against the temperature effect and might be finite even for higher temperatures in the asymptotic limit. Decoherence in a QDS caused by interaction with its environment is another interesting issue in the quantum information field. Assuming Markovian dynamics for the time evolution, we present noise models for the QDS by using Kraus operators for several noisy channels; in particular bit flip, bit-phase flip, phase flip, and depolarizing channels. By analytical and numerical analyses, we investigate the dynamics of different kinds of correlations, namely, the mutual information, the classical correlation, the entanglement of formation (EOF), and the QD in different channels. The sudden change in behavior in the decay rates of correlations and their immunity against certain decoherences are shown. We explore a symmetry among these channels and provide the decoherence areas for which both classical and quantum correlations remain affected in the QDS.

Stable and metastable freezing of classical correlations in qutrits

C. E. López, F. Lastra

We study the dynamics of quantum and classical correlations in a two-qutrit system coupled to independent reservoirs. In particular, we address the differences in the dynamics of Markovian and non-Markovian regimes and show that for specific initial states, classical correlations exhibit abrupt changes along the dynamics. A particular sudden change occurs when the classical correlations freeze to a certain value at a given time, revealing the apparition of a pointer-state basis. After this given time, the decoherence only affects quantum correlations. Here we identify two regimes in the decoherence dynamics: a mixed regime when both classical and quantum correlations decay and a quantum regime when only quantum correlations decay. We show that the freezing of classical correlations can be stable or metastable depending on the system-reservoir parameters. In the long-time limit, we find analytical expressions for the pointer-state basis the system settles in and consequently for classical and quantum correlations.

Correlation dynamics of two-parameter qubit—qutrit states under decoherence

Hao Yuan, Lian-Fu Wei

We investigate the dynamics of correlations for two-parameter qubit-qutrit states under various local decoherence channels including depahsing, phase-flip, bit- and trit-flip, bit- and trit-phase-flip, and depolarizing channels. We find that, under certain conditions, the classical correlations may not be affected by the noise or decay monotonically. The quantum correlations measured by measurement-induced disturbance (MID) show three types of dynamical behaviors: (i) monotonic decay to zero, (ii) monotonic decay to a nonzero steady value, (iii) increase from zero and then decrease to zero in a monotonic way. Consequently, we find that, differing from the dynamics of entanglement, the present classical and quantum correlations do not reveal sudden death behavior.
