Abstract

We report the generation of time-energy entangled paired photons with subnatural linewidths and controllable temporal lengths. The photons are generated using EIT and slow light in a high optical depth two-dimensional MOT.

We describe the generation of time-energy entangled bipotons with a subnatural linewidth and a correlation time of about 100 ns. We use electromagnetically-induced transparency in a 85Rb two-dimensional magneto-optical trap.

Subnatural Linewidth Biphotons with Controllable Temporal Length

Shengwang Du, Pavel Kolchin, Chinmay Belthangady +2 more

This Letter describes the generation of biphotons with a temporal length that can be varied over the range of 50-900 ns, with an estimated subnatural linewidth as small as 0.75 MHz. We make use of electromagnetically induced transparency and slow light in a two-dimensional magneto-optical trap with an optical depth as high as 62. We report a sharp leading edge spike that is a Sommerfeld-Brillouin precursor, as observed at the biphoton level.

Modulation of Single Photons and Biphotons

S. E. Harris

We generate photons with sub-natural linewidths and temporal lengths that are sufficiently long that they may be easily modulated. Results include a new technique for measuring the temporal shape of biphotons. Article not Available.

Single Photons with Arbitrary Waveforms

We use EIT to generate biphotons with a temporal width of about 400 ns. A detected Stokes photon sets the time origin for electro-optic modulation (amplitude or phase) of an anti-Stokes photon.
