The checkerboard family of entangled states of two qutrits

Abstract

Abstract By modifying the method of Bruß and Peres, we construct two new families of entangled two qutrit states. For all density matrices ρ in these families we have ρ ij = 0 for i + j odd. The first family depends on 27 independent real parameters and includes both PPT and NPT states. The second family consists of PPT entangled states. The number of independent real parameters of this family is ≥ 11

The checkerboard family of entangled states of two qutrits

By modifying the method of Bruss and Peres, we construct two new families of entangled two qutrit states. For all density matrices in these families the (i,j)th entry is 0 for i+j odd. The first family depends on 27 independent real parameters and includes both PPT and NPT states. The second family consists of PPT entangled states. The number of independent real parameters of this family is at least 11.

Entanglement distillation on symmetric two–qutrit entangled states of rank five

Zihua Song, Lin Chen, Yongge Wang

Entanglement distillation is a key step in quantum information, both theoretically and practically. It has been proven that nonpositive-partial transpose (NPT) entangled states of rank at most four is 1-distillable under local operation and classical communications. In this paper, we investigate the distillation of a more complex family of NPT entangled states, namely, a family of symmetric two-qutrit states [Formula: see text] of rank five with given eigenvectors. We explicitly construct five families of such states by requiring four of the five eigenvalues to be the same. We, respectively, show that some of them are 1-distillable. It turns out that such states may be not 1-distillable for some interval of eigenvalues. We provide some conditions for eigenvalues that allow [Formula: see text] to be 1-distillable or to be 1-undistillable.

Geometry and Entanglement of Two-Qubit States in the Quantum Probabilistic Representation

Julio A. López-Saldívar, Octavio Castaños, Eduardo Nahmad-Achar +3 more

A new geometric representation of qubit and qutrit states based on probability simplexes is used to describe the separability and entanglement properties of density matrices of two qubits. The Peres-Horodecki positive partial transpose (ppt) -criterion and the concurrence inequalities are formulated as the conditions that the introduced probability distributions must satisfy to present entanglement. A four-level system, where one or two states are inaccessible, is considered as an example of applying the elaborated probability approach in an explicit form. The areas of three Triadas of Malevich's squares for entangled states of two qubits are defined through the qutrit state, and the critical values of the sum of their areas are calculated. We always find an interval for the sum of the square areas, which provides the possibility for an experimental checkup of the entanglement of the system in terms of the probabilities.

Constructing 2 × 2 × 4 and 4 × 4 unextendible product bases and positive-partial-transpose entangled states

Kai Wang, Lin Chen, Yi Shen +2 more

The 4-qubit unextendible product bases (UPBs) has been recently studied by [Johnston, J. Phys. A: Math. Theor. 47 (2014) 424034]. Based on this study we show that there is only one UPB of size 6 and six UPBs of size 9 in H=C2⊗C2⊗C4, three UPBs of size 9 in K=C4⊗C4, and no UPB of size 7 in H and K. Furthermore we construct a new family of 4-qubit positive-partial-transpose (PPT) entangled states of rank seven, and show that they are also PPT entangled states in H and K, respectively. We analytically derive a geometric measure of a special PPT entangled states.

Exploring entanglement, Wigner negativity and Bell nonlocality for anisotropic two-qutrit states

Huan Liu, Zu-wu Chen, Xue-feng Zhan +2 more

Abstract We introduce a family of anisotropic two-qutrit states (AITTSs). These AITTSs are expressed as ρ aiso = p | ψ ( θ , ϕ ) ⟩ ⟨ ψ ( θ , ϕ ) | + ( 1 − p ) I 9 9 with | ψ ( θ , ϕ ) ⟩ = sin ⁡ θ cos ⁡ ϕ | 00 ⟩ + sin ⁡ θ sin ⁡ ϕ | 11 ⟩ + cos ⁡ θ | 22 ⟩ and I 9 = ∑ j , k = 0 2 | j k ⟩ ⟨ j k | . For a given p ∈ [ 0 , 1 ] , these states are adjustable in different ( θ , ϕ ) directions. In the case of ( θ , ϕ

Determining quantum correlations in bipartite systems - from qubit to qutrit and beyond

Andrzej Frydryszak, Lech Jakóbczyk, Piotr Ługiewicz

We advocate the step change in properties of discrete d -level quantum systems, between d = 2 and d ≥ 3. Qubit systems, or multipartite systems containing qubit subsystem, are exceptional in their relative simplicity. One faces a step in complexity in valuating measures of quantum correlations for qutrits and then other higher dimensional qudits. There is a growing number of arguments leading to such conclusion: recently found no-go theorem for generalization of the Peres-Horodecki's PPT criterion [1], change in geometry of state spaces of qubit and higher degree qudits (the so called 'generalized Bloch ball' is not a ball anymore), restricted possibilities for diagonalization of correlation matrices for bipartite systems, more difficult way for handling the set of relevant families of orthogonal projectors.
