A CHARACTERISATION OF WIGNER–YANASE SKEW INFORMATION AMONG STATISTICALLY MONOTONE METRICS

Abstract

Let [Formula: see text] be the space of n × n complex matrices endowed with the Hilbert–Schmidt scalar product, let Sn be the unit sphere of Mn and let Dn⊂ Mn be the space of strictly positive density matrices. We show that the scalar product over Dn introduced by Gibilisco and Isola3 (that is the scalar product induced by the map [Formula: see text]) coincides with the Wigner–Yanase monotone metric.

DUAL GEOMETRY OF THE WIGNER–YANASE–DYSON INFORMATION CONTENT

Hiroshi Hasegawa

We develop a non-parametric information geometry on finite-dimensional matrix manifolds by using the Fréchet differentiation. Taking the simplest prototype Riemannian metric form [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text] with the Fréchet derivative D on a pair of smooth functions g(ρ) and g*(ρ) of the density matrix ρ, we prove the WYD identification theorem: this metric is identified with the normalized Wigner–Yanase–Dyson skew information (the WYD metric), if and only if the metric form satisfies the monotonicity under every stochastic mapping T on ρ and A: [Formula: see text]. On this basis, we establish (a) a fine structure of the partial order in the set ℱ of all monotone metrics such that ℱ power ∪ℱ WYD forms a linearly ordered subset of ℱ with the same mini-max bound, where ℱ power (the power-mean metrics) interpolates the Bures and the WYD metrics (b) a characterization of the quasi-entropy S (ρ, σ)= Tr F (Δσ, ρ)ρ induced by the metric-characterizing function f WYD (x) of the WYD metric (c) an affine connection on the above metric which is torsionless to guarantee the quantum version of the ±α-connection, provided α∈[-3, 3].

Wigner–Yanase information on quantum state space: The geometric approach

Paolo Gibilisco, Tommaso Isola

In the search of appropriate Riemannian metrics on quantum state space, the concept of statistical monotonicity, or contraction under coarse graining, has been proposed by Chentsov. The metrics with this property have been classified by Petz. All the elements of this family of geometries can be seen as quantum analogs of Fisher information. Although there exists a number of general theorems shedding light on this subject, many natural questions, also stemming from applications, are still open. In this paper we discuss a particular member of the family, the Wigner–Yanase information. Using a well-known approach that mimics the classical pull-back approach to Fisher information, we are able to give explicit formulas for the geodesic distance, the geodesic path, the sectional and scalar curvatures associated to Wigner–Yanase information. Moreover, we show that this is the only monotone metric for which such an approach is possible.

which is known as the Wigner-Yanase-Dyson skew information. Recently it is shown that these skew informations are connected to special choices of quantum Fisher information in [3]. The family of all quantum Fisher informations is parametrized by a certain class of operator monotone functions Fop which were justified in [9]. The Wigner-Yanase skew information and Wigner-Yanase-Dyson skew information are given by the following operator monotone functions

Skew informations from an operational view via resource theory of asymmetry

Ryuji Takagi

The Wigner-Yanase skew information was proposed to quantify the information contained in quantum states with respect to a conserved additive quantity, and it was later extended to the Wigner-Yanase-Dyson skew informations. Recently, the Wigner-Yanase-Dyson skew informations have been recognized as valid resource measures for the resource theory of asymmetry, and their properties have been investigated from a resource-theoretic perspective. The Wigner-Yanse-Dyson skew informations have been further generalized to a class called metric-adjusted skew informations, and this general family of skew informations have also been found to be valid asymmetry monotones. Here, we analyze this general family of the skew informations from an operational point of view by utilizing the fact that they are valid asymmetry resource monotones. We show that such an approach allows for clear physical meanings as well as simple proofs of some of the basic properties of the skew informations. Notably, we constructively prove that any type of skew information cannot be superadditive, where the violation of the superadditivity had been only known for a specific class of skew informations with numerical counterexamples. We further show a weaker version of superadditivity relation applicable to the general class of the skew informations, which proves a conjecture made for the Wigner-Yanase skew information as a special case. We finally discuss an application of our results for a situation where quantum clocks are distributed to multiple parties.

A generalized Wigner–Yanase skew information

Rupinderjit Kaur, Mohammad Sal Moslehian, Mandeep Singh

We generalize a two-parameter extended Wigner–Yanase skew information given by Z. Zhang [J Math Anal Appl. 2021;497(1): 124851] to any general operator monotone function. We prove several fundamental properties including the joint concavity and an uncertainty relation for the proposed generalized Wigner–Yanase skew information.

Schrödinger uncertainty relation and convexity for the monotone pair skew information

Chul Ki Ko, Hyun Jae Yoo

Furuichi and Yanagi showed a Schrödinger uncertainty relation for the Wigner-Yanase-Dyson skew information, which is a special monotone pair skew information. In this paper, we give a Schrödinger uncertainty relation based on a monotone pair skew information, and extend the result of Furuichi and Yanagi. Moreover, we show that some monotone pair skew information becomes a metric adjusted skew information and therefore the convexity of it follows from known results.
