RECiP: Wireless channel reciprocity restoration method for varying transmission power

Gerhard Wunder, Rick Fritschek, Khan Reaz

The use of wireless channel reciprocity properties for secret key generation has been an attractive method for many wireless applications. Most of the available methods rely on some sort of pilot signalling from the transceiver. This reduces the intrinsic security of the generated key. In this paper we have introduced a novel key generation and exchange method that requires no pilot signalling and have also included an algorithm to restore wireless channel reciprocity properties for varying transmission power. Finally we presented information theoretic analysis and the result of our implementation on off-the-shelf TelosB motes.

PHY-layer key exchange for wireless communication

Shashikala B Roogi, Manjunath R Kounte

Several key exchange methods for wireless channels have been presented in the literature. They are collectively named as PHY-layer security techniques and are usually based on the channel's fading characteristics and the reciprocity principle. In this paper, we present a PHY-layer security algorithm which includes channel sampling and thresholding and error reconciliation based on neural networks. The presented algorithm's performance and offers a security and these are studied with the help of simulations and interesting results are drawn about its overall utility.

Neural network based PHY-layer key exchange for wireless communications

Dimitrios S. Karas, George K. Karagiannidis, Robert Schober

Several key exchange methods for wireless channels have been proposed in the literature. They are referred to as PHY-layer security techniques and are usually based on the channel's fading characteristics and the principle of reciprocity. In this paper, we present a novel PHY-layer security algorithm whose function is based on neural networks. Specifically, we present a full key exchange scheme which includes channel sampling and thresholding and neural network based error reconciliation. The proposed method's performance and offered security are studied through simulations and interesting conclusions are drawn about its overall utility.
