Abstract

Quantum cryptography is considered as a promising solution towards absolute security in long-term cryptosystems. While the application of quantum cryptography in fiber networks has significant advances, research on the application of quantum cryptography in mobile networks is still premature. In this paper, we analyze the interests of using quantum technique for the distribution of encryption keys in 802.11 wireless networks. We also propose a scheme for the integration of quantum cryptography in 802.11i security mechanisms for the establishment of the PTK (pairwise transient key).

Using Quantum Cryptography for Securing Wireless LAN Networks

Abolfazl Falahati, Hadi Meshgi

Quantum cryptography is an emerging technology in which two parties may simultaneously generate shared, secret cryptographic key material using the transmission of quantum states of light. Key distribution is the problem of classical cryptography algorithm, and tends to provide safe channel to transport key. Quantum cryptography could distribute key in quantum channel. Eavesdropper can not access to key on quantum channel. If Eve attack on quantum channel QBER increases and she is detected. While the application of quantum cryptography in fiber network has significant advances, research on the application of quantum cryptography in mobile networks is still premature. Integration of quantum key distribution in EAP-TLS protocol used for wireless LAN authentication

Mohamed Elboukhari, Abdelmalek Azizi, Mostafa Azizi

Extensive studies have been undertaken on quantum cryptography, which offers unconditionally secure communication based on quantum mechanics, since it was noted that quantum computers could break public key cryptosystems based on number theory. Now there is a strong need of research to exploit this technology in the existing communication networks. While the use of quantum cryptography in fiber optical networks gets significant advances, research on the application of quantum cryptography in mobile wireless network is still premature. There are a large variety of kinds of mobile wireless networks, Wi-Fi, based on the IEEE 802.11 standard, is wireless local area network and due to the limited coverage area, this environment potentially offers a chance to let quantum key distribution (QKD) play a role in the wireless communication. In this paper, we propose a technique of integrating quantum cryptography in 802.11 to provide a secure service of authentication. It is based on integrating QKD in the EAP-TLS conversation to enhance the security of the authentication process.

Quantum key distribution in WLAN 802.11 networks

Anand Sharma, Vibha Ojha, Saroj Kumar Lenka

Recent misuse of wireless internet by terrorists has increased the need for security in the same. With ever growing technology both cryptographers, who encrypt messages, and cryptanalysts, who break those codes, have equal opportunities and facilities. Quantum Cryptography seems to be a promising solution providing absolute security in such communications. Its works by identifying the threats and combats them by using basic laws of Quantum Physics. Since the first proposition on quantum key distribution protocol appeared in 1984, research on quantum cryptography has been growing rapidly. Experiments of quantum key distribution have been realized for optical and free-space environments [1, 2, 3, and 4]. In fiber networks, some products have been commercialized to provide a turnkey service for widely used encryption algorithms [5], In section 2 and 3 we analyze the authentication and key management in 802.11 networks and in section 4 we are giving the introduction of Quantum Cryptography with QKD and in section 5 we are integrating quantum technique for the distribution of encryption keys in 802.11 wireless networks.

Framework for Wireless Network Security Using Quantum Cryptography

Priyanka Bhatia, Ronak Sumbaly

Data that is transient over an unsecured wireless network is always susceptible to being intercepted by anyone within the range of the wireless signal.Hence providing secure communication to keep the user's information and devices safe when connected wirelessly has become one of the major concerns.Quantum cryptography provides a solution towards absolute communication security over the network by encoding information as polarized photons, which can be sent through the air. This paper explores on the aspect of application of quantum cryptography in wireless networks. In this paper we present a methodology for integrating quantum cryptography and security of IEEE 802.11 wireless networks in terms of distribution of the encryption keys.

New scheme of integrating quantum key distribution in 802.11i

Rima Djellab

User's mobility is increasing with the height level of mobility that the mobile networks offer. The information transmitted from A to B in a network has to be secured from any eavesdropping, so the main solution used is the cryptography. Nevertheless, the classical cryptography suffers from some limits that make it vulnerable in front of some kind of attacks like "attack by dictionary" or "exhaustive attack". In the other hand, the miniaturisation in processor industry (Moor's law) causes interferences. For that purpose and other new field appear to overcome that kind of problem. That is "Quantum cryptography". In the present paper we will present an enhanced proposition of integration the QKD in the 802.11i.
