Low-crosstalk bifurcation detectors for coupled flux qubits

P. C. de Groot, Arjan F. van Loo, Jürgen Lisenfeld +4 more

We present experimental results on the crosstalk between two ac-operated dispersive bifurcation detectors, implemented in a circuit for high-fidelity readout of two strongly coupled flux qubits. Both phase-dependent and phase-independent contributions to the crosstalk are analyzed. For proper tuning of the phase the measured crosstalk is 0.1% and the correlation between the measurement outcomes is less than 0.05%. These results show that bifurcative readout provides a reliable and generic approach for multipartite correlation experiments.

Characterization and Control of Measurement-Induced Dephasing on Superconducting Flux Qubit with a Josephson Bifurcation Amplifier

Kosuke Kakuyanagi, Yuichiro Matsuzaki, Tatsuya Baba +3 more

Quantum measurements play a central role in quantum information processing. Understanding the mechanism of the quantum measurements is essential to both improve the visibility of the readout and decrease the projection error during measurement. Here, we describe and demonstrate an experimental protocol for quantifying a measurement backaction when we readout a superconducting flux qubit using a Josephson bifurcation amplifier. The coupling with the Josephson bifurcation amplifier induces a dephasing on the flux qubit during the readout. We have succeeded in estimating and controlling the strength of such a measurement-induced dephasing by changing the pulse height of the microwave driving. Our results are crucial for designing a suitable quantum readout technique for the realization of practical quantum devices.

Superconducting non-linear resonator for non-destructive readout of a flux qubit

K. Inomata, 道生 渡部, Tsuyoshi Yamamoto +3 more

We have investigated microwave response of a λ/4 superconducting coplanar waveguide resonator which is terminated by a DC-SQUID coupled with a flux qubit. The circuit is designed for non-destructive single-shot readout of a flux qubit based on dispersive interaction between the qubit and the resonator and switching between bistable states of the driven nonlinear resonator. A high-frequency (∼ 10 GHz) resonator is exploited for suppressing photon-number fluctuations which cause qubit dephasing even when the readout circuit is not activated. We observed bifurcation of the resonator in the nonlinear driving regime. In the linear regime, the degeneracy point of the qubit was detected as a shift of the resonant frequency.
