Abstract

In this paper, we investigate propagation of squeezed light in array of coupled waveguides which has tremendous potential for applications in engineering. We take a look at the possibility of Talbot effect with squeezed states of light. We also demonstrate how Hong-Ou-Mandel effect may be engineered to be relatively immune to fabrication imperfections.

Transfer of non-classical features and quantum states of light in circularly coupled waveguide arrays

Abstract We investigate the applicability of the circular arrays of coupled single-mode optical waveguides in transferring the non-classical state of light for quantum information processing. We study the nonclassical states of light, such as a single-photon Fock state, a two-photon NOON state, a single-mode squeezed state and a two-mode squeezed state as inputs to the lattice, which are key resources for various applications in the field of quantum information science. In addition, for comparison, we also examine a coherent state. We investigate the transport of non-classical features and quantum states of light from one waveguide mode to another. For the single and two-mode squeezed states, we perform a detailed study of the evolution of the squeezing. Our work highlights the potential of the circular arrays of optical waveguides platform for the transport of non-classical features and quantum states of light. We expect our results should have applications in the physical implementation of photonic quantum technologies.

Transport and quantum walk of nonclassical light in coupled waveguides

We study the transport and quantum walk of nonclassical light in an array of coupled waveguides which have properties like very low decoherence and thus making them ideal for storage of quantum information. We show how squeezing gets turned over from one waveguide to another. We further show how input nonclassical light can generate entanglement among different waveguides. Our results, which are valid for an arbitrary number of waveguides, involve both first quantization due to array structure and second quantization due to the quantum nature of fields and can also be used to discuss the Talbot effect in the quantum regime.

Propagation of nonclassical states of light through one-dimensional photonic lattices

We study the propagation of nonclassical light through arrays of coupled linear photonic waveguides and introduce some sets of refractive indices and coupling parameters that provide a closed-form propagator in terms of orthogonal polynomials. We present propagation examples of nonclassical states of light—single photon, coherent state, path-entangled state, and two-mode squeezed vacuum—impinging into two-waveguide couplers and a photonic lattice producing coherent transport.

Manipulation of multimode squeezing in a coupled waveguide array

We present a scheme for generating and manipulating three-mode squeezed states with genuine tripartite entanglement by injecting single-mode squeezed light into an array of coupled optical waveguides. We explore the possibility to selectively generate single-mode squeezing or multimode squeezing at the output of an elliptical waveguide array, determined solely by the input light polarization. We study the effect of losses in the waveguide array and show that quantum correlations and squeezing are preserved for realistic parameters. Our results show that arrays of optical waveguides are suitable platforms for generating multimode quantum light, which could lead to novel applications in quantum metrology.
