THE DEPENDENCY ON THE SQUEEZING PARAMETER FOR THE UNCERTAINTY RELATION IN THE SQUEEZED STATES OF THE TIME-DEPENDENT OSCILLATOR

Abstract

We obtained the uncertainty relation in squeezed states for a time-dependent oscillator. The uncertainty relation in coherent states is same as that of the number states with n=0. However, the uncertainty relation in squeezed states does not satisfy this property and depends on squeezing parameter c. For instance, the uncertainty relation is ℏ/2 which is the minimum value as far as quantum mechanics permits for c=1, same as that in coherent state for c=±∞, and infinity for c=-1. If the time-dependency of the Hamiltonian for the system vanishes, the uncertainty relation in squeezed states will no longer depend on c and becomes the same as that in number state with n=0, like the uncertainty relation in coherent states.

UNCERTAINTY RELATIONS FOR THE TIME-DEPENDENT SINGULAR OSCILLATOR

Jeong Ryeol Choi, In Hyun Nahm

Uncertainty relations for the time-dependent singular oscillator in the number state and in the coherent state are investigated. We applied our developement to the Caldirola–Kanai oscillator perturbed by a singularity. For this system, the variation (Δx) decreased exponentially while (Δp) increased exponentially with time both in the number and in the coherent states. As k → 0 and χ → 0, the number state uncertainty relation in the ground state becomes 0.583216ℏ which is somewhat larger than that of the standard harmonic oscillator, ℏ/2. On the other hand, the uncertainty relation in all excited states become smaller than that of the standard harmonic oscillator with the same quantum number n. However, as k → ∞ and χ → 0, the uncertainty relations of the system approach the uncertainty relations of the standard harmonic oscillator, (n+1/2)ℏ.

Squeezing properties of q-phase-coherent states with respect to the phase quadrature operators are studied. The relations between number-phase squeezing and number-phase uncertainty are also studied in detail for a two-state system. Some new number-phase minimum uncertainty states are found.

GENERALIZED SQUEEZED STATES FROM GENERALIZED COHERENT STATES

Michael Martin Nieto

Both the coherent states and also the squeezed states of the harmonic oscillator have long been understood from the three classical points of view: the 1) displacement operator, 2) annihilation- (or ladder-) operator, and minimum-uncertainty methods. For general systems, there is the same understanding except for ladder-operator and displacement-operator squeezed states. After reviewing the known concepts, I propose a method for obtaining generalized minimum-uncertainty squeezed states, give examples, and relate it to known concepts. I comment on the remaining concept, that of general displacement-operator squeezed states.

UNCERTAINTY RELATION IN THE BARUT–GIRARDELLO COHERENT STATE FOR THE TIME-DEPENDENT SINGULAR OSCILLATOR

Jeong Ryeol Choi

The SU (1,1) generators are considered in order to investigate the uncertainty relation in the Barut–Girardello coherent state for the time-dependent singular oscillator. The corresponding uncertainty product is obtained by evaluating the expectation values of the canonical variables and their squares.

Wave function in the invariant representation and squeezed-state function of the time-dependent harmonic oscillator

Kyu Hwang Yeon, Hyon Ju Kim, Chung‐In Um +2 more

The two quantum invariant operators are found from the time-dependent Hamiltonian of the harmonic oscillator with an auxiliary condition. The solution of the Schr\"odinger equation for the system, such as the eigenfunctions, eigenvalues, and minimum uncertainty, is derived by utilizing these invariant operators. The coherent states of this system are not the squeezed states, and the eigenfunction of the invariant operator is not the eigenfunction of the Hamiltonian of the system unless it is in the invariant representation. The squeezing function, which is an eigenfunction of the Hamiltonian of the system in the invariant representation and which also gives the minimum uncertainty, is obtained by a set of unitary transformed operators, i.e., squeezing operators.
