Foundations of probability and physics--5 : Växjö, Sweden, 24-27 August 2008

Luigi Accardi

This conference was devoted to fundamental questions raised by quantum mechanics, especially in quantum information theory. As has become customary in our series of conference in Vaxjo, we were glad to welcome a fruitful assembly of theoretical physicists, experimentalists, mathematicians and even philosophers interested in the foundations of probability and physics. This conference belongs to the series of Vaxjo conferences in foundations of quantum mechanics (especially probabilistic foundations) combined of two subseries, Foundations of Probability and Physics: 2000, 02, 04, 06, 08, and Quantum Theory: Reconsideration of Foundations: 2001, 03, 05, 07. We also mention the first Vaxjo conference: Bohmian mechanics 2000. This is definitely the longest series of conferences on foundations in the history of quantum mechanics.

Proceedings of the conference in honor of C.N. Yang's 85th birthday : Singapore, 31 October - 3 November 2007 : statistical physics, high energy, condensed matter and mathematical physics

Mo‐Lin Ge, C. H. Oh, K. K. Phua

The Conference on Statistical Physics, High Energy, Condensed Matter and Mathematical Physics was held in honor of Professor Chen-Ning Yang's 85th birthday in Singapore in Oct–Nov 2007. The conference paid tribute to the breadth and depth of Professor Yang's achievements in physics and science education since he received his Nobel Prize in Physics fifty years ago. This notable birthday volume is a collection of the presentations made at the conference by many eminent scientists who had worked closely with him or who have been influenced to some extent by his work.

Conference on Physics of Ultracold Atoms in Russia – a new step towards deepening international cooperation

N. Kolachevsky, I. I. Ryabtsev, A. V. Taǐchenachev

Abstract At the end of December 2021, there was held online the annual, fifteenth in a row, All-Russian Conference on Physics of Ultracold Atoms, in which scientists from other countries took part. Over the past years, this conference has changed dramatically: from a one-day workshop of participants in the integration projects of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, where the results of the year were summed up, into a full-scale All-Russian conference with a wide geographic coverage of participants from Vladivostok to Voronezh. Foreign scientists also took an active part in the work of the conference, but until recently they were Russianspeaking researchers, and so Russian remained the working language of the conference. In 2021, an important step was taken towards its transition to a full-fledged international format. Russian and English became the working languages, and in order to increase the level and significance of the conference, as well as to deepen international cooperation in this field of physics, a number of foreign scientists were invited.
