Two-particle correlations on a 1D lattice in a constant magnetic field

Abstract

The problem of two particles interacting through the Hubbard potential on a 1 D finite lattice in a constant uniform magnetic field is solved. Exact wave functions are determined, and an equation for the energy spectrum is constructed and analyzed. The possibility of a field-induced singlet-triplet transition is demonstrated.

Two-particle states in the 2D Hubbard model

A. S. Saakyan

An exact solution is proposed for the problem of two singlet electrons (zero-spin bosons) interacting through a Hubbard-type potential on a bounded quadratic lattice. Exact two-particle states and the energy spectrum are constructed.

Exactly soluble model of two-dimensional interacting fermions in a uniform magnetic field

Erik C. Sowa, L. M. Falicov

The spectrum of a Hamiltonian for $N$ harmonically interacting two-dimensional particles in a constant perpendicular magnetic field is determined exactly by the transformation to normal coordinates. The energy of the ground state consistent with Fermi-Dirac statistics is calculated in the limit of a strong magnetic field. The Fermi energy is found to exhibit de Haas---van Alphen---like oscillations.

Pairing and Vortex Lattices for Interacting Fermions in Optical Lattices with a Large Magnetic Field

Hui Zhai, R. O. Umucalılar, Mehmet Özgür Oktel

We study the structure of a pairing order parameter for spin-1/2 fermions with attractive interactions in a square lattice under a uniform magnetic field. Because the magnetic translation symmetry gives a unique degeneracy in the single-particle spectrum, the pair wave function has both zero and finite-momentum components coexisting, and their relative phases are determined by a self-consistent mean-field theory. We present a microscopic calculation that can determine the vortex lattice structure in the superfluid phase for different flux densities. Phase transition from a Hofstadter insulator to a superfluid phase is also discussed.

Two-particle correlations in 1D-lattice systems with δ-interactions

ARMEN N. KOCHARIAN, A. S. Saakyan

The problem of two interacting particles in finite closed and open chains is solved by the Lifshitz method. The “density-density” correlation function, the dependence of the “surface” energy on the two-particle interaction energy and number of links in the chain, and the two-particle distribution on the chain are found and the nature of the ground state is clarified.

Gapless and Massive 1D Singlet Dispersion Channel in Infinite Spin-1/2 Ladders ---Infinite Quasi-1D Entanglement Perturbation Theory for Excitation

Lihua Wang, Aslam Parvej, David ChangMo Yang +1 more

We solve for the elementary excitation in infinite quasi-1D quantum lattices by extending the recently developed infinite quasi-1D entanglement perturbation theory. The wave function of an excited state is variationally determined by optimizing superposition of cluster operation, each of which is composed of simultaneous on-site operation inside a block of lattice sites, on the ground state in a form of plane wave. The excitation energy with respect to the wave number gives the spectra for an elementary excitation. Our method is artificial broadening free and is adaptive for various quasi-particle pictures. Using the triplet spectrum, the application to $\infty$-by-$N$ antiferromagnetic spin-$\frac{1}{2}$ ladders for $N=2, 4, 6, 8$, and $10$ confirms a previous report that there is a quantum dimensional transition, namely, the lattice transits from quasi-1D to 2D at a finite critical value $N_c=10$. The massless triplet dispersion at $\left( π, π\right)$ sees a vanishing gap. Our results detect the anomaly at $\left(π,0\right)$ in the triplet spectrum, agreeing well with the inelastic neutron scattering measurement of a macroscopic sample. Surprisingly, our results also reveal a gapless and massive 1D singlet dispersion channel that is much lower than the triplet excitation. We note, however, the dimensional transition is determined by the massless triplet dispersion.

Quantum many-body scars with unconventional superconducting pairing symmetries via multibody interactions

Shohei Imai, Naoto Tsuji

We present a systematic framework to construct model Hamiltonians that have unconventional superconducting pairing states as exact energy eigenstates, by incorporating multibody interactions (i.e., interactions among more than two particles). The multibody interactions are introduced in a form of the local density-density coupling in such a way that any pair configuration in real space has a constant interaction energy by canceling the two-body and multibody interactions. Our approach is applicable to both spinless and spinful models in any spatial dimensions and on any bipartite lattices, facilitating an exhaustive extension of Yang's s − wave η − pairing state to various other unconventional pairing symmetries ( p − wave , d − wave , f − wave , etc.). Particularly, the constructed eigenstates have off-site pairs with finite center-of-mass momentum, which leads to superconducting states with either even-parity and spin-triplet or odd-parity and spin-singlet symmetry. We verify that the two-dimensional spinful Hubbard model on a square lattice with the multibody interactions has the spin-triplet d − wave pairing state as an energy eigenstate, which can be regarded as a quantum many-body scar state as evidenced from the numerical analysis of the pair correlation function, entanglement entropy, and level statistics. We also discuss other examples, including spin-triplet f − wave pairing states on a honeycomb lattice and spin-singlet p − wave pairing states in a one-dimensional chain. These findings open up the possibility of realizing nonequilibrium unconventional superconductivity in a long-lived manner protected against thermalization.
