Pairing and phase separation in a one-dimensional spin-bag liquid

P. Wróbel, R. Eder

We study the one-dimensional t-J model in a staggered magnetic field by a variational calculation based on the string picture. Our key assumption is the separation of energy scales between rapid incoherent hole motion on scale t and slow coherent motion on scale J. We discuss pair formation and phase separation in the hole liquid and find good agreement with exact diagonalization of small clusters. \textcopyright{} 1996 The American Physical Society.

One-hole motion in the anisotropic three-dimensional antiferromagnet

Weijie Zhang, Jue-lian Shen

We have investigated one-hole motion in the anisotropic three-dimensional (A3D) quantum antiferromagnet by use of the A3D t-J model in a simple cubic lattice. The hopping matrix element and the Heisenberg exchange energy are t and J in the xy plane. They are ${\mathit{t}}_{\mathrm{\ensuremath{\perp}}}$ and ${\mathit{J}}_{\mathrm{\ensuremath{\perp}}}$ in the z direction. Within the self-consistent mean-field approximation, the hole spectral function has been calculated by use of an iterative technique. We find that the quasiparticle picture still holds and the lowest-energy quasiparticle state has momentum either k=(\ensuremath{\pi}/2,\ensuremath{\pi}/2,\ensuremath{\pi}/2) or k=(\ensuremath{\pi}/2,\ensuremath{\pi}/2,0) depending on the parameters of the model. Holding J and ${\mathit{J}}_{\mathrm{\ensuremath{\perp}}}$ constant and allowing ${\mathit{t}}_{\mathrm{\ensuremath{\perp}}}$ to increase, the spectral weight and the peak height of the quasiparticle decreases. In the quasi-two-dimensional cases with small ${\mathit{t}}_{\mathrm{\ensuremath{\perp}}}$ and ${\mathit{J}}_{\mathrm{\ensuremath{\perp}}}$, the spectral weight and the peak height of the quasiparticle are smaller than those in the exact two-dimensional case.

Ferromagnetic Clouds Caused by Hole Motion in a One-Dimensional t–J Model

Kazuhiro Sano, Ken’ichi Takano

The one-dimensional $t_1$-$t_2$-$J_1$-$J_2$ model is examined in the one-hole case, in which the total number of electrons is one less than the number of the lattice sites. The ground-state phase diagram includes a series of partial ferromagnetic phases, which are stacked in a regime of positive and small $J_1$. We find that the ground state in each of these partial ferromagnetic phases includes a ferromagnetic cloud, which is a multiple-spin bound state together with the hole. The ferromagnetic cloud is a large magnetic polaron with a heavy mass in a single-band electronic system and is supposedly formed as a result of Nagaoka ferromagnetism which locally works around the hole.

Dynamics of a single hole in the t−Jt-Jt−J model
