Influences of spin–orbit interaction on quantum speed limit and entanglement of spin qubits in coupled quantum dots

M. Bagheri Harouni

Quantum speed limit and entanglement of a two-spin Heisenberg XYZ system in an inhomogeneous external magnetic field are investigated. The physical system studied is the excess electron spin in two adjacent quantum dots. The influences of magnetic field inhomogeneity as well as spin–orbit coupling are studied. Moreover, the spin interaction with surrounding magnetic environment is investigated as a non-Markovian process. The spin–orbit interaction provides two important features: the formation of entanglement when two qubits are initially in a separated state and the degradation and rebirth of the entanglement.

Position and spin control by dynamical ultrastrong spin-orbit coupling

Carlos Echeverría‐Arrondo, Eugene Ya. Sherman

Focusing on the efficient probe and manipulation of single-particle spin states, we investigate the coupled spin and orbital dynamics of a spin-1/2 particle in a harmonic potential subject to ultrastrong spin-orbit interaction and external magnetic field. The advantage of these systems is the clear visualization of the strong spin-orbit coupling in the orbital dynamics. We also investigate the effect of a time-dependent coupling: Its nonadiabatic change causes an interesting interplay of spin and orbital motion which is related to the direction and magnitude of the applied magnetic field. This result suggests that orbital state manipulation can be realized through ultrastrong spin-orbit interactions, becoming a useful tool for handling entangled spin and orbital degrees of freedom to produce, for example, spin-desirable polarizations in time that are interesting for spintronics implementations.

Thermal entanglement and quantum coherence of a single electron in a double quantum dot with Rashba interaction

Merynilda Ferreira, Onofre Rojas, Moisés Rojas

In this work, we study the thermal quantum coherence and fidelity in a two-level system with spin-orbit coupling. The proposed model involves a single electron in a double quantum dot with Rashba spin-orbit coupling in the presence of an external magnetic field. In our scenario, the thermal entanglement of the single electron is driven by the charge and spin qubits, the latter controlled by Rashba coupling. Analytical expressions are obtained for thermal concurrence and correlated coherence using the density matrix formalism. The main goal of this work is to provide a good understanding of the effects of temperature and several parameters in quantum coherence. In addition, our findings show that we can use the Rashba coupling to tune the thermal entanglement, quantum coherence, and the thermal fidelity behavior of the system. Moreover, we focus on the role played by thermal entanglement and correlated coherence responsible for quantum correlations. We observe that the correlated coherence is more robust than the thermal entanglement in all cases, so quantum algorithms based only on correlated coherence may be stronger than those based on entanglement.
