Quantum fluctuation effects on the ordered moments in a two dimensional frustrated ferrimagnet

Kingshuk Majumdar, Subhendra D Mahanti

Abstract We propose a novel two-dimensional (2D) frustrated quantum spin-1/2 anisotropic Heisenberg model with alternating ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic magnetic chains along one direction and antiferromagnetic interactions along the other. The (mean-field) ground state is ferrimagnetic in certain range of the interaction space. Spin-wave theory analysis of the reduction of ordered moments at inequivalent spin sites and the instability of the spin waves suggest a quantum phase transition which has the characteristics of both the frustrated 2D antiferromagnetic S = 1/2 ( J 1 , J 2 ) model and 1D S 1 = 1, S 2 = 1/2 quantum ferrimagnetic model.

Odd Number of Coupled Antiferromagnetic Anisotropic Heisenberg systems: Linear Spin Wave Analysis

A. Benyoussef, Abderrazak Boubekri, Hamid Ez-zahraouy A

The effect of anisotropies on the energy gap and magnetization for odd number of coupled quantum spin-1/2 antiferromagnetic anisotropic Heisenberg systems is investigated using the linear spin wave theory. However, for the chains, the energy gap opens above a critical anisotropy. While, for the planes, in the isotropic case, such system exhibits a long-range order and no energy gap. Whereas, in the anisotropic case the energy gap opens above a critical anisotropic value. Known results of the isotropic case have been obtained.

Modified Tucker Decomposition for Tensor Network and Fast Linearized Tensor Renormalization Group Algorithm for Two-Dimensional Quantum Spin Lattice Systems

Shi-Ju Ran, Wei Li, Gang Su

We propose a novel algorithm with a modified Tucker decomposition for tensor network that allows for efficiently and precisely calculating the ground state and thermodynamic properties of two-dimensional (2D) quantum spin lattice systems, and is coined as the fast linearized tensor renormalization group (fLTRG). Its amazing efficiency and precision are examined by studying the spin-1/2 anisotropic Heisenberg antiferromagnet on a honeycomb lattice, and the results are found to be fairly in agreement with the quantum Monte Carlo calculations. It is also successfully applied to tackle a quasi-2D spin-1/2 frustrated bilayer honeycomb Heisenberg model, where a quantum phase transition from an ordered antiferromagnetic state to a gapless quantum spin liquid phase is found. The thermodynamic behaviors of this frustrated spin system are also explored. The present fLTRG algorithm could be readily extended to other quantum lattice systems.
