Fluorescence spectrum of a three-level system driven by a finite-bandwidth squeezed vacuum

Azeddine Messikh, Mohamed Ridza Wahiddin

Using the coupled-systems approach we show numerically that the fluorescence spectrum from a three-level system driven by a finite-bandwidth squeezed vacuum on one allowed atomic transition and pumped coherently on the other allowed atomic transition may show, in addition to the Autler-Townes doublet, three other peaks. As the bandwidth of the squeezed vacuum increases the three peaks disappear and eventually only the Autler-Townes doublet remains. This is due to a three-wave mixing process.

Dynamical suppression of the Autler-Townes doublet in the presence of a cavity

Peng Zhou, S. Swain

We study the Autler-Townes absorption spectrum of the upper and intermediate levels of a three-level cascade atom in which the intermediate and ground levels are strongly driven by a laser field as well as weakly coupled by a cavity mode [Phys. Rev. 100, 703 (1955)]. Surprisingly, one of the Autler-Townes peaks may be greatly suppressed or enhanced by tuning the cavity resonant frequency. The larger the Rabi frequency, the more pronounced the cavity-induced suppression or enhancement. The Autler-Townes spectrum carries full information on the cavity-induced modification of the strongly driven levels. A physical interpretation is presented in the dressed-state basis.

AC Stark splitting of a three-level system driven by two strong fields

C. Wei, Neil B. Manson

Summary form only given. It is well known that a strongly driven transition exhibits a doublet splitting when probed by a weak field, commonly known as AC Stark splitting. It can be observed either by probing the driven two-level itself (Mollow-type spectrum) or via a third level (Autler-Townes-type spectrum). These two type splittings can have very different characteristics, particularly when driven resonantly. The absorptive Mollow spectrum consists of two dispersion-like features, whereas for the Autler-Townes spectrum there is a simple doublet splitting. In this paper we report the observation of both Mollow and Autler-Townes spectrum simultaneously by applying two strong driving fields in a three-level configuration.
