Optimally preserving quantum correlations and coherence with eternally non-Markovian dynamics

Marek Miller, Kang‐Da Wu, Manfredi Scalici +5 more

Abstract We demonstrate, both analytically and experimentally, the usefulness of non-Markovianity for preserving correlations and coherence in quantum systems. For this, we consider a broad class of qubit evolutions, having a decoherence matrix separated from zero for large times. While any such Markovian evolution leads to an exponential loss of correlations, non-Markovianity can help to preserve correlations even in the limit t → ∞. In fact, under general assumptions, eternally non-Markovian evolution naturally emerges as the one that allows for optimal preservation of quantum correlations. For covariant qubit evolutions, we also show that non-Markovianity can be used to preserve quantum coherence at all times, which is an important resource for quantum metrology. We explicitly demonstrate this effect experimentally with linear optics, by implementing the optimal non-Markovian quantum evolution.

Quantum correlations and coherence in a driven two-qubit system under non-Markovian dissipative effect

K. Berrada, Bahaaudin Mohammadnoor Raffah, Hichem Eleuch

By considering an exactly solvable model for a driven two non-interacting qubits, each coupled to a bosonic environment with zero temperature, under the non-Markovian dissipative process, we study the variation of coherence and correlations in terms of different physical parameters. We show the influence of the external classical driving field as well as the initial quantum states. Moreover, we highlight the relationship between the coherence, single-qubit population, and correlations according to the physical parameters of the whole system. We reveal that the preservation and enhancement of coherence and correlations may occur by adjusting the strength of the classical driving field, initial states, and non-Markovian effects.

Non-Markovianity, coherence, and system-environment correlations in a long-range collision model

Barış Çakmak, Marco Pezzutto, Mauro Paternostro +1 more

We consider the dynamics of a collisional model in which both the system and environment are embodied by spin-$1/2$ particles. In order to include non-Markovian features in our model, we introduce interactions among the environmental qubits and investigate the effect that different models of such interaction have on the degree of non-Markovianity of the system's dynamics. By extending that interaction beyond the nearest neighbor, we enhance the degree of non-Markovianity in the system's dynamics. A further significant increase can be observed if a collective interaction with the forthcoming environmental qubits is considered. However, the observed degree of non-Markovianity in this case is nonmonotonic with the increasing number of qubits included in the interaction. Moreover, one can establish a connection between the degree of non-Markovianity in the evolution of the system and the fading behavior of quantum coherence in its state as the number of collisions grows. We complement our study with an investigation of system-environment correlations and present an example of their importance on a physical upper bound on the trace distance derivative.

We consider the dynamics of a collisional model in which both the system and environment are embodied by spin-1/21/21/2 particles. In order to include non-Markovian features in our model, we introduce interactions among the environmental qubits and investigate the effect that different models of such interaction have on the degree of non-Markovianity of the system's dynamics.
