Together they give light

A system of fully excited atoms can radiate coherently to give a short pulse of radiation that has a peak intensity and a linewidth much larger than for any incoherent radiation. This phenomenon of superfluoresence was first suggested by Robert Dicke of Princeton University 25 years ago and is seen in rarefied gases, where collision and other dephasing events are absent.
