Hard-sphere Bose gas model for superfluid helium

A. D. Singh

The density dependence of the properties of a dense hard-sphere Bose gas are calculated. The double-time, retarded Green functions and the t-matrix approach are used to derive the energy spectrum of the elementary excitations. This energy spectrum is then used to calculate the various macroscopic properties of the system. The usefulness of the hard-sphere Bose gas model for understanding the pressure dependence of the properties of superfluid helium is brought out.
