Abstract

A model of a nonlinear, damped kicked oscillator is discussed. For such a model intra-mode correlations described by mutual information parameter I[α] based on the Wehrl entropy are considered. Furthermore, the system’s quantum evolution is compared to its classical counterpart. The mutual information parameter is discussed as a proposal for quantum chaos’ witness.

Kerr-type nonlinear quantum oscillator: quantum correlations, chaotic, and regular dynamics

We propose the second-order correlation function g(2) as an indicator of quantum chaotic evolution. We discuss a nonlinear Kerr-like oscillator's system excited by a series of ultra-short coherent pulses. For such model, we study the time-evolution of the function g(2) for various values of the strength of excitation which corresponds to the regular and chaotic behaviors of the classical counterpart of the Kerr-like quantum system.

Wigner-function nonclassicality as indicator of quantum chaos

A. Kowalewska-Kudłaszyk, Joanna K. Kalaga, W. Leoński

We propose a Wigner-function-based parameter that can be used as an indicator of quantum chaos. This parameter is defined as "entropy" from the time dependence of "nonclassicality" proposed by A. Kenfack and K. Zyczkowski [J. Opt. B 6, 394 (2004)]. We perform our considerations for the system of damped nonlinear (Kerr-like) oscillator excited by a series of ultrashort external pulses.

Two proposals of quantum chaos indicators related to the mean number of photons: pulsed Kerr-like oscillator case

Joanna K. Kalaga, W. Leoński

We propose two parameters which are mutually related to the fidelity between two states1-4 and mean number of photons. We discuss them for situations corresponding to the regular and chaotic behavior of the classical counterpart of Kerr-like quantum system, showing that proposed parameters could be applied as indicators of quantum chaos.

Quantum Correlations in System of Kerr Nonlinear Coupler

Vinh Le Duc, Joanna K. Kalaga, W. Leoński

We consider a system composed of two linearly mutually interacting, identical Kerr-like nonlinear oscillators.Assuming that the system initially is in a coherent state, we discuss the system's dynamics and concentrate on the field's mutual correlations. As a measure of such correlations, we apply the normalized first-and second-order coherence functions. We derive the analytical formulas for such functions showing that their time-evolution strongly depends on the linear coupling parameter.

A Quantum Damper

Fumihiro Matsui, Hiroaki S. Yamada, Kensuke S. Ikeda

As an application of the classically decayable correlation in a quantum chaos system maintained over an extremely long time-scale (Matsui et al, Europhys.Lett. 113(2016),40008), we propose a minimal model of quantum damper composed of a quantum harmonic oscillator (HO) weakly interacting with a bounded quantum chaos system. Although the whole system obeys unitary evolution dynamics of only three quantum degrees of freedom, the mechanical work applied to the HO is stationary converted into the internal energy characterized by an effective temperature in an irreversible way over a sufficiently long time-scale, if the components of the quantum chaos system are mutually entangled enough. A paradoxical dependence of the duration time of the stationary conversion on the driving strength is also discussed.
