Abstract

We experimentally demonstrate conditional teleportation of non-Gaussian nonclassical states of light. The nonclassicality of the Wigner function is proven to be enhanced: the negativity is stronger than what deterministic operations achieve.

Non-Gaussian entangled states and quantum teleportation of Schrödinger-cat states

Kaushik Parasuram Seshadreesan, Jonathan P Dowling, G. S. Agarwal

In continuous-variable quantum information, non-Gaussian entangled states that are obtained from Gaussian entangled states via photon subtraction are known to contain more entanglement. This makes them better resources for quantum information processing protocols, such as, quantum teleportation. We discuss the teleportation of non-Gaussian, non-classical Schrödinger-cat states of light using two-mode squeezed vacuum light that is made non-Gaussian via subtraction of a photon from each of the two modes. We consider the experimentally realizable cat states produced by subtracting a photon from the single-mode squeezed vacuum state. We discuss two figures of merit for the teleportation process, (a) the fidelity, and (b) the maximum negativity of the Wigner function at the output. We elucidate how the non-Gaussian entangled resource lowers the requirements on the amount of squeezing necessary to achieve any given fidelity of teleportation, or to achieve negative values of the Wigner function at the output.

Teleportation of non-Gaussian states of light

Hugo Benichi, N. Lee, Shuntaro Takeda +3 more

We experimentally prepare non‐classical states of light with negative Wigner function and perform continuous variable quantum teleportation of these states. We develop an analytical model that encompass the two main aspects of this experiment, multimode wave‐packet teleportation and negativity teleportation. We present experimental results and compare them to the model.

Quantum mode filtering of non-Gaussian states for teleportation-based quantum information processing

Shuntaro Takeda, Hugo Benichi, Takahiro Mizuta +3 more

We propose and demonstrate an effective mode-filtering technique of non-Gaussian states generated by photon subtraction. More robust non-Gaussian states have been obtained by removing noisy low frequencies from the original mode spectrum. We show that non-Gaussian states preserve their nonclassicality after quantum teleportation to a higher degree when they have been mode filtered. This is indicated by a stronger negativity, $\ensuremath{-}0.033\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.005$, of the Wigner function at the origin, compared to $\ensuremath{-}0.018\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}0.007$ for states that have not been mode filtered. This technique can be straightforwardly applied to various kinds of photon-subtraction protocols and can be a key ingredient in a variety of applications of non-Gaussian states, especially teleportation-based protocols toward universal quantum information processing.

Classical Phase-Space Descriptions of Continuous-Variable Teleportation

Carlton M. Caves, Krzysztof Wódkiewicz

The non-negative Wigner function of all quantum states involved in teleportation of Gaussian states using the standard continuous-variable teleportation protocol means that there is a local realistic phase-space description of the process. This includes the coherent states teleported up to now in experiments. We extend the phase-space description to teleportation of non-Gaussian states using the standard protocol and conclude that teleportation of non-Gaussian pure states with a fidelity of 2/3 is a "gold standard" for this kind of teleportation.

Detecting nonclassicality and non-Gaussianity by the Wigner function and quantum teleportation in photon-added-and-subtracted two modes pair coherent state

Truong Minh Duc, Ho Sy Chuong, Dat Quang Tran

Abstract We introduce a new state called photon-added-and-subtracted two modes pair coherent state (PAASTMPCS) by simultaneously adding and subtracting photons to the different modes of a pair coherent state. Its nonclassical and non-Gaussian properties are strengthened via the negative values of its Wigner function as the numbers of adding and subtracting photons are increased. It indicates that the PAASTMPCS is an entangled state. When increasing the numbers of photon-added and photon-subtracted to a pair coherent state, the degree of entanglement in the PAASTMPCS is enhanced compared with the original pair coherent state. By using a PAASTMPCS as a non-Gaussian entangled resource, the quantum teleportation processes are studied in detail. It is shown that the number sum and phase difference measurements protocol is more appropriate than the orthogonal quadrature components measurements protocol in the quantum teleportation process of a coherent state.
